Central Michigan in the first game of the season went on the road and faced off against South Alabama. At halftime, Central Michigan was up 38-23 and in the second half, they had to hold on to secure the  74-70. The defense was clearly an issue and the defense gave up 47 points in the second half. Even though they won, they can’t feel good about the way the defense played in the second half and closed out the game. 

The Chippewas offense was good, and five different players scored at least 10 points. Kyler Vanderjagt had a huge game, finishing with 16 points, one rebound, and one assist. Jakobi Heady also finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, and one assist.
