South Carolina State Bulldogs Betting Preview
The Bulldogs started out the season on a 2-1 stretch, taking wins over Morris College and Voorhees with a loss to South Carolina in between. South Carolina State would go 2-2 over the next four outings, losing to Jacksonville and Bethune-Cookman before recovering on wins versus Alabama A&M and IUPUI. A rough 2-4 stretch came next, featuring wins over Charleston Southern and South Carolina Upstate mixed with losses to Marshall, Xavier, Samford, and Furman. Over the last two games, South Carolina State has fallen to Northern Kentucky and Georgia for a 6-9 record in their first 15 games of 2024-25.
Back on Sunday versus Georgia, the Bulldogs came out of halftime looking at a 41-24 advantage on the scoreboard—surprisingly enough. South Carolina State came back to earth in the second half however, getting drilled 55-31 on the way to a 79-72 defeat. Leading the team in scoring was Jayden Johnson with 16 points, three boards, three assists, and two steals off the bench. Michael Teal added 13 points with three rebounds and three steals, while Wilson Dubinsky chipped in 12 points with four boards. The leading starter in the defeat was Drayton Jones with eight points, seven rebounds and two assists alongside his two blocks.
Morgan State Bears Betting Preview
Over on the Morgan State side, they won three of their first five games this year over Frostburg State, District of Columbia, and NJIT alongside losses to Mercyhurst and Longwood. Losses versus North Carolina A&T, Buffalo, Towson, and UMBC came in the next four games, then wins over Central Penn and Cheyney PA. Since then it’s been a 1-4 run with losses to Bowling Green, Xavier, Iowa State, and Minnesota mixed with a lone win over Campbell in that time.
In the Minnesota game last weekend, the Bears came out of the break with a 55-37 deficit. Things didn’t get any better from there for Morgan State as they’d get outscored 35-31 and finish off a 90-68 defeat. Kameron Hobbs led the team in the losing effort with 25 points, six boards, and four assists. Will Thomas added 13 points and two assists, while Daniel Akitoby doubled up on 10 points with 11 rebounds. Demajion Topps chipped in four bench points.

South Carolina State vs Morgan State Prediction
I’ll probably lean toward South Carolina State. There’s not much to look forward to here if you’re not a fan of either team, though. The Bulldogs played way beyond their means in the first half of their last game versus Georgia, but eventually shot just 40.4 percent from the field with 16 turnovers for 20 Georgia points. South Carolina State gave up 54 percent shooting on the other side as well. That said, The Bulldogs have posted 72 or more points in four of the last six games (a 2-4 run) so it wouldn’t be surprising to see them hit that threshold here.
As for Morgan State, they didn’t shoot great (40 percent) versus Minnesota in their latest loss but didn’t play terribly, all things considered. The Bears have been at 68 or more points in three straight games, but they’ve given up 76 or more in five straight as well. I like a fairly high total here in a South Carolina State cover. It’ll be an entertaining matchup if nothing else.
