In this article we will formulate a Rockies vs Guardians prediction for this MLB game on Wednesday, July 30th at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup.

Colorado Rockies Betting Preview

The Colorado Rockies are 28-79 this year after they split the first two games in this series by scores of 8-6 and 4-10. In their game two loss, Colorado cut the deficit to 7-1 in the fourth inning, but that wasn’t nearly enough in the blowout loss. The Rockies recorded 10 hits and they committed two errors in the game, while they were led by Beck, Bernabel, Farmer, and Toglia, who all had one RBI in the loss. Colorado started Gordon, who allowed eight hits and six earned runs over 3.0 innings for the loss, while Chivilli allowed two earned runs in relief.

Prior to this series, the Rockies lost two out of three against the Orioles, but did win two out of three against the Cardinals before that. Colorado has lost three of their last four games and they are currently last in the NL West standings. The Colorado pitching staff has a 5.65 ERA with a 1.59 WHIP and a .296 opponent batting average, while the offense has scored 388 runs with a .234 batting average and a .293 on base percentage this season. Hunter Goodman has led Colorado with 19 home runs and 59 RBIs, while Mickey Moniak has added 16 home runs and 41 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Colorado is Kyle Freeland, who is 2-10 with a 5.24 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP over 101.1 innings pitched this year.

Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview

The Cleveland Guardians are 53-54 this season after they won game two by a score of 10-4 on Tuesday night. Cleveland scored 10 of the first 11 runs in the game and picked up a badly needed victory. The Guardians recorded 15 hits and they committed one error in the game, while they were led by Manzardo, who went 3-4 with two home runs and three RBIs in the win. Cleveland started Allen, who allowed eight hits and two earned runs over 7.0 innings for the win, while Herrin allowed one earned run in relief.

Prior to this series, the Guardians lost two out of three against the Royals, but did win three out of four against the Orioles before that. Cleveland has lost four of their last six games and they are currently second in the AL Central standings. The Cleveland pitching staff has a 3.94 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP and a .244 opponent batting average, while the offense has scored 419 runs with a .228 batting average and a .301 on base percentage this season. Jose Ramirez has led Cleveland with 21 home runs and 56 RBIs, while Kyle Manzardo has added 18 home runs and 46 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Cleveland is Kolby Allard, who is 2-1 with a 2.83 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP over 41.1 innings pitched this season.

Why the Guardians will beat the Rockies

  • The Guardians have won each of their last eight Wednesday night games at Progressive Field.
  • The Rockies have lost 14 of their last 15 Wednesday night games.
  • The Rockies have failed to cover the run line in seven of their last eight road games against American League opponents following a road loss.
  • The Guardians have covered the run line in six of their last eight home games against National League opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Rockies have lost the first inning in three of their last four night games against American League opponents.
  • The Guardians have led after 3 innings in three of their last four games against NL West opponents.
  • The Rockies have trailed after 5 innings in eight of their last nine Wednesday night road games.

Total Runs Facts

  • Eight of the Rockies’ last nine road games against American League opponents have gone OVER the total runs line.
  • Each of the Guardians’ last five home games against NL West opponents have gone OVER the total runs line.
  • The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in six of the Guardians’ last seven games as favorites against NL West opponents.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in four of the Rockies’ last five games at Progressive Field.

Cleveland Guardians Player Prop Facts

  • Lane Thomas has hit a home run in three of his last four Wednesday appearances.
  • Steven Kwan has recorded at least one hit in each of the Guardians’ last seven games against opponents that held a losing record.

Colorado Rockies Player Prop Facts

  • Tyler Freeman has recorded at least one Double in five of his last six appearances against AL Central opponents.
  • Orlando Arcia has recorded at least one hit in 14 of his last 15 road appearances against AL Central opponents.
  • Kyle Farmer has hit a home run in three of his last six appearances with the Rockies as road underdogs against AL opponents.
  • Kyle Freeland has recorded five or more strikeouts in three of his last four appearances with the Rockies as road underdogs against AL opponents.

Rockies vs Guardians Prediction

Cleveland was able to bounce back after that disappointing game one loss with a big win on Tuesday night, as they try to keep pace with the Tigers in the Central. The Guardians are 26-26 at home this year, while the Rockies are 14-41 on the road. Colorado has allowed 39 runs in their last four games and they are starting Freeland, who has allowed 4, 1, 3, 3, and 6 earned runs in his last five outings. Cleveland is going with Allard, who is expected to be an opener. I don’t love Cleveland’s pitching plan for this one, but we are getting plus money on the Cleveland run line against a horrible road team. Take the Guardians by at least two here.

David Racey's Pick: Guardians -1.5
