Iowa Hawkeyes Betting Preview
The Hawkeyes came out of the gate strong this year and powered out some nice wins. The opener was a 40-0 blowout versus Northern Illinois, then came a tight 16-13 win over Iowa State. Game three was another blowout win, this time 55-0 versus Northern Iowa. Iowa kept it going with a tense 20-19 road victory over Michigan to start the year at 4-0 overall.
In the Ohio State game last weekend the Hawkeyes finally met their match. Iowa was only down four points at the end of the first quarter but that deficit expanded to 31-6 during the fourth. At the end the Hawkeyes had a 31-14 loss. QB Hank Brown finished with a 12-of-27 line for 132 yards and an interception. DJ Vonnahme caught six balls for 64 yards.
Washington Huskies Betting Preview
Over on the Huskies’ side, they also started out the year on a nice run. Washington dispatched Washington State 24-10 in their first action of the season. The next pair were both wins as well; the Huskies took out Utah State 16-14 and Eastern Washington 48-16. The Huskies took their first loss of the season 27-24 versus Minnesota on September 26 for a 3-1 opening.
Matched up against USC last weekend the Huskies posted a touchdown in each of the first two quarters to go up 14-10 by the break. Washington gave up three unanswered scores at the end of the game though, eventually losing 25-21. QB Demond Williams was 15-of-26 for 198 yards and a touchdown. Brian Bonner led the rush with 19 carries for 89 yards in the defeat.

Iowa vs Washington Prediction
I’ll go with Washington. The Huskies were able to give USC a bit of a scare last weekend, despite going just 1-of-12 on third downs and gaining only 15 first downs throughout the game. The 10 penalties for 74 yards didn’t help either. The D was out there for 34:58 of game time but still did a pretty good job on third downs (5-of-14) in the four-point loss.
As for Iowa, they couldn’t contain a talented Ohio State team last weekend. The Hawkeyes gained only 15 first downs with 238 yards and two turnovers during the loss. On defense Iowa gave up 25 first downs with 484 yards and 8-of-15 on third-down tries. Iowa has been held below 21 points in three of their five games so far, but they’ve also had some tricky matchups.
