UNLV Rebels Betting Preview
UNLV has opened the season on a 4-1 run through their first five outings. The Rebels’ only blemish was on November 9 in an 80-74 loss to Memphis. Otherwise, it’s been wins over Alabama State, Omaha, Pepperdine, and New Mexico State.
Back on Saturday versus the Aggies, the Rebels came out of the locker room with a three-point edge. UNLV hit a 35-31 run the rest of the way and took the win 72-65. Dedan Thomas led the team with 22 points, five rebounds, and four assists in the victory.
Mississippi State Bulldogs Betting Preview
Over on the Mississippi State side, they’ve got five games in the bag as well. Each outing has been a win so far for the Bulldogs. They’ve taken out West Georgia, Georgia State, Southeastern Louisiana, Utah, and SMU in succession.
Matched up against SMU in their Friday game, the Bulldogs were looking at a 38-33 deficit by halftime. Mississippi State surged on a 51-41 second-half run, however, taking the win 84-79 in the end. KeShawn Murphy led the team with 16 points with seven boards.

- UNLV has lost the first half in four of its last five games against non-conference opponents at neutral venues.
UNLV vs Mississippi State Prediction
I’ll stay with UNLV here. The Rebels are coming off a gritty win against New Mexico in a game that featured a combined 69 free throws (42 for UNLV). The Rebels’ rate from the line wasn’t great (71.4 percent) but the 30 extra points helped carry the team to a win despite a rough 36 percent shooting from the floor. UNLV has hit 72 or more points in all five games so far, with 80 or more in three of them.
As for Mississippi State, they didn’t shoot great against SMU themselves (41.2 percent) but only had seven turnovers and managed a 37-33 rebounding edge (16-6 offensive). The Bulldogs have managed 78 or more points in all five games this season, so if both teams are on point Thursday we’ll get a pretty high total. In the end, however, I like UNLV to get in for the cover—so long as the Rebels can elevate that shooting percentage a bit this time.
