San Jose State Spartans Betting Preview

The Spartans have been fighting off the .500 mark for most of the year, and they’re losing the battle as of late. San Jose State went 7-6 over their first 13 games, taking out Life Pacific, UTEP, UNC Greensboro, Long Beach State, Lincoln University CA, Cal Poly, and Kennesaw State during that opening run. The Spartans would lose to Boise State, Colorado State, UNLV, and Utah State before a 5-2 stretch that featured wins over Air Force, New Mexico, Wyoming, Air Force again, and Fresno State (with losses to Nevada and San Diego State). Since then it’s been four straight losses to Boise State, San Diego State, Nevada, and Utah State. That gives the Spartans a 12-16 overall run through their first 28 games of the 2024-25 campaign. 

In the Utah State matchup on Wednesday, the Spartans entered the break with a 47-24 deficit. San Jose State didn’t get anywhere closer than that, losing 105-57 in blowout fashion following a 58-33 second half. Leading the starters in the losing effort was Donovan Yap with 15 points, three steals, and two rebounds. Sadraque NgaNga led the bench players with 15 points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 24 minutes of action on the court. 

Wyoming Cowboys Betting Preview

Over on the Wyoming side, they’ve been a mixed bag this year as well and haven’t been able to stay above the .500 mark either. The Cowboys posted a 9-6 run in their first 15 games with wins over Concordia St. Paul, Tennessee State, Utah Tech, SE Louisiana, Tulane, Bellarmine, CSU Fullerton, Nevada, and Air Force in that time. A 2-4 run came next with wins over UNLV and Fresno State among losses to New Mexico, Boise State, Colorado State, and San Jose State. Following losses to San Diego State, Utah State, UNLV, New Mexico, and Colorado State, the Cowboys stopped the bleeding with a win over Air Force. That gives Wyoming a 12-15 overall record through 27 games so far this year. 

Matched up against Air Force in the home rematch on Tuesday, Wyoming was in trouble after the first half with a 38-28 deficit. The Cowboys woke up from there, however, eventually taking the win 69-62 after a 41-24 second half. Obi Agbim led the team with 22 points with three rebounds and four assists. Cole Henry added 16 points with nine rebounds, and Dontaie Allen put up 12 points with five rebounds in 33 minutes of work.

San Jose State vs Wyoming Prediction 

I’ll take a stab at San Jose State here, but there’s not a lot to get excited about. The Spartans were pummeled by a good Utah State team in their last outing, shooting just 37.5 percent from the field with a 41-24 rebounding deficit and 13 turnovers for 21 Aggies points. San Jose State has now lost four straight, with fewer than 67 points in all of those and fewer than 59 points in three of them. 

The Spartans did win 67-58 at home the last time these teams met up on January 25, though. Wyoming has been below 67 points in four straight games (all losses) themselves, so SJSU should have a manageable road matchup here.
