High Point Panthers Betting Preview
The Panthers have been a dangerous team all year, and haven’t lost consecutive games at all. High Point hasn’t lost any game in quite some time, in fact. Over the first 20 outings, the Panthers took losses to only Missouri State, UNC Greensboro, Norfolk State, UNC Asheville, and Longwood. Since then it’s been a long string of wins over Presbyterian, USC Upstate, Winthrop, Presbyterian, Radford, UNC Asheville, Longwood, Winthrop, Charleston Southern, Gardner-Webb, USC Upstate, Gardner-Webb, Radford, and Winthrop in success, leading to a 29-5 overall record and a Big South Tournament championship for the Panthers.
In the final game of the conference tourney versus Winthrop, the Panthers were in trouble with a 39-29 deficit by the break. High Point stormed back on a 52-30 run and took the comeback victory 81-69, though. Leading the team in points was Bobby Pettiford, who came off the bench for 17 points and four assists. Kezza Giffa led the starters on 16 points with three rebounds in 20 minutes of work.
Purdue Boilermakers Betting Preview
Over on the Purdue side, they’ve had some ups and downs this year record-wise amid a tough conference schedule. The Boilermakers posted an 8-4 start over their first 12 games, then hit a win streak in late December that lasted seven games. A 4-5 run with losses to Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Indiana came over the next nine outings, and since then it’s been a 3-2 stretch. Purdue has wins over UCLA, Rutgers, and USC in that quintet among losses to Illinois and Michigan, giving the team a 22-11 overall record this year.
Matched up against Michigan last Friday, the Boilermakers were trailing by four points at the break. Purdue never ended up getting closer on a 46-32 run from there and took the loss 86-68. Tops in scoring was Trey Kaufman-Renn with 24 points and nine rebounds. Brayden Smith added 12 points with six assists, while Gicarri Harris had 11 points with four rebounds and three steals in 21 minutes of action off the bench during the losing effort.

High Point vs Purdue Prediction
I’ll take a stab at High Point here, but you could easily make a case the other way. The Panthers started slowly in their Big South final matchup versus Winthrop but finished strong on the way to a solid 45.2 percent shooting and a 42-38 rebounding edge. High Point had just seven turnovers along the way while scoring 14 points off 12 Eagles miscues. That stretches the Panthers’ win streak to 14 games, and they’ve scored 76 or more points in every one of those outings. This will be a tough matchup, though.
As for Purdue, they couldn’t keep pace with a very good Michigan team in their last outing and eventually shot a rough 33.8 percent from the field while giving up 51.7 percent on the other side. The Boilermakers were outfoxed on the boards 40-34 and had just 11 assists to Michigan’s 25—but Purdue also had just five turnovers during a pretty disciplined game. The Boilermakers have been giving up some pretty healthy points totals lately (to good teams, granted), so if High Point can hit the gas on offense I could see them staying in range.
