The High Point Panthers come into the 2024-25 season looking to improve on a solid 2023-24 campaign, finishing 27-9 overall including 13-3 in Big South Conference play in year one under Alan Huss. High Point took out Radford in the Big South tournament before falling to Longwood in the semifinals. High Point knocked off Cleveland State and Arkansas State in the CBI before losing to Seattle in the CBI championship game. The Panthers lost Duke Miles from last year’s team, but a lot of the core from last year’s team is back, including Kezza Giffa (16.2 PPG), Kimani Hamilton (14.9 PPG, 7.2 RPG), and Abdoulaye Thiem (12.7 PPG, 3.4 RPG) as well as Terry Anderson (13.1 PPG) from Lamar as a senior transfer. High Point is slated to be one of the best mid-major teams in the country by many this season and I’m inclined to agree.

• High Point has won each of its last eight games against non-conference opponents at Qubein Center.

Coppin State vs. High Point Prediction

I’m with High Point. I know that last year, there were a couple of spots where High Point stumbled early, but I think that this year’s High Point team is going to be different after a year together. Coppin State struggled mightily against Wake Forest last time out and I think High Point is a fair bit better than Wake Forest across the board so I shudder to think what High Point will do here to Coppin State. Give me the Panthers in a beatdown.
