The Seattle RedHawks and the Eastern Washington Eagles meet Wednesday in college basketball action from the Reese Court. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Seattle vs. Eastern Washington prediction.
Seattle Recap
The Seattle RedHawks come into the 2024-25 season looking to build on a solid 2023-24 season, finishing 23-14 overall including 11-9 in WAC conference play. The RedHawks took out Cal Baptist in the quarterfinals of the WAC tournament before falling to Grand Canyon in the semifinals. Seattle was invited to the CBI, where they took down Delaware State, Evansville, Fairfield, and High Point to lift the trophy, the RedHawks’ first postseason trophy in program history. The RedHawks have to replace a lot of their top talent, most notably Cameron Tyson, Alex Schumacher, and Brandon Chatfield. The RedHawks do however, retain the services of John Christofilis (12.7 PPG) and Kobe Williamson (8.9 PPG, 5.7 RPG) while welcoming in Maleek Arrington (11.8 PPG, 4.8 APG) from Idaho State and Brayden Maldonado (16.8 PPG, 4.1 RPG) from D-II. Only time will tell if Seattle can replicate the same amount of success from a season ago.
Why the Seattle Redhawks will win
- Seattle has won each of its last six games against non-conference opponents.
Eastern Washington Recap
The Eastern Washington Eagles will try to rebound after starting the season with a 76-56 loss to Colorado last time out. After this game, Eastern Washington will head back on the road for a game against Missouri.
Eagles Looking To Right The Ship At Home
Nic McClain led the Eagles with 16 points on 6 of 9 shooting with 5 rebounds, a team-high 4 assists, and 3 steals while Vice Zanki added 12 points on 4 threes as the only other double-digit scorer for Eastern Washington in the loss. Mason Williams had a team-high 4 steals while Tyler Powell added 4 assists of his own as well in the losing effort. As a team, Eastern Washington is averaging 56 PPG on 36.2% shooting from the field, 31.3% from three, and 64.3% from the foul line this season.
Why the Eastern Washington Eagles will win
- Eastern Washington has won each of its last 15 games against non-conference opponents at Reese Court.
- Seattle has lost each of its last three road games against the Big Sky Conference.
Seattle vs. Eastern Washington Prediction
I’m leaning towards Seattle here. I know it’s tempting to take a home underdog that’s had a game to shake off the rust against the team that’s taking the floor for the first time, but Seattle’s still the better team by a fair margin here, and that’s despite so much turnover from last year’s team. The Eagles have a lot of soul-searching to do this season and I think the opening loss to Colorado was just the first step in that. Give me Seattle.
