Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils Betting Preview

It’s been a rough campaign for the Delta Devils so far. They’ve got just two wins in the books (versus Mississippi University for Women and Oakwood) amid a long string of defeats. Since then it’s been a losing streak versus Liberty, North Texas, Tulsa, LSU, Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Prairie View, Texas Southern, Bethune-Cookman, Florida A&M, Grambling, and Southern in succession for Mississippi Valley State. The result so far has been a 2-19 overall record through the first 21 games of the 2025-25 season. 

In the Southern matchup on Monday, the Delta Devils took a 32-22 deficit into the second half. Mississippi Valley State didn’t get any closer than that on a 31-20 run the rest of the way and ended up losing 63-42 in blowout fashion at home. Nobody on the team managed to make double figures in that one. Jair Horton was the closest, coming off the bench for 17 minutes to notch eight points, three rebounds, two steals, and a pair of turnovers in the defeat.

Over on the AR-Pine Bluff side, they haven’t had a great season overall either. The Golden Lions managed three wins in their first 13 games, otherwise falling to Cincinnati, Tulsa, South Florida, Incarnate Word, Texas Tech, Missouri, Pacific, Kansas State, Louisiana Monroe, and Texas in that time. Since then it’s been another string of losses. Those have come versus Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Prairie View, Florida A&M, Bethune-Cookman, Southern, and Grambling in succession for a 3-17 overall record in 20 games so far this year. 

In the Grambling game back on Monday, the Golden Lions managed to put up a 42-37 deficit in the first half. AR-Pine Bluff won the second half 40-39 but didn’t get close enough for a victory in an 81-77 result. Doctor Bradley led the team with 17 points, seven boards, five assists, and three steals. Dante Sawyer came off the bench for 14 points, three boards, and two assists, while Caleb Jones chipped in 11 bench points with three rebounds.

I’ll lean toward Arkansas Pine Bluff. There’s obviously very little to get excited about in this game, though. The Golden Lions are coming off a pretty sloppy loss to a struggling Grambling team in their last outing, but they didn’t play too badly statistically—outside of the 13 turnovers that is. AR-Pine Bluff shot 49.2 percent from the field and won the rebounding battle 33-29, but also gave up 52.8 percent shooting on the other side. The Lions have been at 67 points or more in five of the seven games during this current losing streak, and if they can reach that threshold here ARPB should be in good shape. MS Valley State has been below 59 points in five straight, so they likely won’t put up much of a fight on the scoreboard.
