Long Island University Sharks Betting Preview
Long Island U was able to maintain a .500 record through their first half-dozen outings of the season, but things haven’t gone anywhere near as well since then. The Sharks beat Pratt, Air Force, and Charlotte during those opening six with losses otherwise versus Ole Miss, Cal Baptist, and Columbia. LIU hit a rough 1-8 skid over the next nine with a lone win over York NY among losses to Winthrop, Lafayette, Binghamton, Niagara, UMass Lowell, Missouri, Mount St. Mary’s, and Lehigh. Things have gone better with wins in the last pair, however, as Long Island University has dispatched Le Moyne and Chicago State for a 6-11 run so far this year.
Matched up against Chicago State on Sunday, the Sharks came out of the break with a 25-22 deficit. Long Island U woke up after that however, hitting their stride on a 31-14 run to close out a 53-39 victory. Leading the team in scoring was Jamal Fuller with 16 points and seven boards. Malachi Davis was also in double-figures with 12 points, four rebounds and three assists. Brent Davis led the bench scorers on 10 points and seven boards.
Stonehill Skyhawks Betting Preview
Over on the Stonehill side, they kicked off the year on a pretty ugly run but they’ve been able to climb back above .500 since then. The Skyhawks opened things up on a 2-4 stretch with wins over Framingham State and New Orleans alongside losses to Notre Dame, Providence, Robert Morris, and Lindenwood. A 4-1 stretch came after that with a lone loss to Marquette in between wins over Bryant, East Texas A&M, Quinnipiac, and Lesley University. Stonehill is 3-3 in the last six, taking out New Hampshire, Lafayette, and St. Francis PA with losses otherwise versus Boston University, UMass Lowell, and Mercyhurst for a 9-8 run overall this season.
In the St. Francis PA game over the weekend, the Skyhawks went into the locker room with a 33-20 deficit and were in trouble. Stonehill got it going from there on a 44-27 stretch, however, resulting in a comeback victory 64-60. Hermann Koffi topped the team in the win with 17 points and five boards. Amir Nesbitt added 13 points and four rebounds off the bench, while Todd Brogna doubled up on 11 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Long Island University vs Stonehill Prediction
I’ll likely just stick with Stonehill, but this could be a fairly close matchup depending on how things go. The Skyhawks didn’t shoot well versus a struggling St. Francis PA team in their last win, hitting just 39.3 percent from the field with 13 turnovers for 17 Red Flash points. The 40-36 rebounding edge certainly helped, though. Stonehill has 69 or more points in six of the last eight games, so if they can hit that threshold here the Skyhawks will be in great shape.
As for LIU, they’ll need a better shooting performance than they had in their last game (38 percent) as well. That said, the Sharks have been below 63 points in four of the last six so I’m not thrilled about their chances in this matchup.
Andrew Jett's Pick: Stonehill Skyhawks -3
