Charleston Cougars Betting Preview

The Cougars have gotten off to a good start this year, with four wins in five games. Charleston took out Southern Illinois, South Florida, and Florida Atlantic in their opening trio. Game three was a 68-47 loss to Liberty, though.

In their last matchup versus the Citadel, Charleston got back into the win column. The Cougars were up 41-27 in the locker room and scored 35 more from there in a 76-61 finish. Ante Brzovic topped the team with a double-double on 22 points and 14 boards.

Rhode Island Rams Betting Preview

Over on the Rams’ side, they’ve been relatively quiet so far this year with only four games in the can. Rhode Island’s fortunes have been good so far though; they opened up with wins over Fairfield, Holy Cross, and Franklin Pierce in their first trio.

The Rams’ last outing was a matchup with Lafayette on Wednesday. In that one, Rhode Island took a 40-27 halftime lead then hit a 46-45 run from there for an 86-72 win. Sebastian Thomas led the way with 23 points with nine assists.

I’ll probably just stay with Rhode Island. The Rams are cruising along nicely through four games and coming off a dominant effort versus a struggling Lafayette team. Rhode Island put up 51.8 percent shooting in that one with 41 rebounds. That said, the Rams could use some improvement from outside (4-of-20 for 20 percent) and the line (24-of-40 for 60 percent). Still, it’s hard to complain about 86 or more options in every game so far.

As for Charleston, they shot a nice 55.6 percent from the field in their win over the Citadel but also had trouble from outside (4-of-17 for 23.5 percent) and had 13 turnovers. The Cougars have 76 or more points in four of five games this year (all wins) but had a rough 47 points in their loss to Liberty. If the Rams can clamp down on defense here I think Rhode Island will control the game from wire to wire.
