Mirra Andreeva faces Leylah Fernandez in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Madrid Open on Tuesday, April 28. Here’s our Mirra Andreeva vs Leylah Fernandez prediction. This preview will also include a Mirra Andreeva vs Leylah Fernandez pick.

Mirra Andreeva vs Leylah Fernandez Preview

Mirra Andreeva is coming off a three-set win over Anna Bondar. Andreeva surprisingly dropped the first set in a tiebreak after 61 minutes. She served for the set at 6-5, but was broken back and Bondar ended up taking a shock lead. Andreeva survived a scare in the fifth game of the second set, where she saved two break points. She broke Bondar in the next game to lead 4-2. And just a few games later, she had leveled at 6-3.

In the final set, Andreeva took a 4-1 with the insurance of a double break. But Bondar produced an incredible comeback by saving a match point. Andreeva failed to serve out the match twice on her serve and the set went into another breaker. But Andreeva made sure of victory when she clinched it on her third match point. This was the third Hungarian opponent that Andreeva has faced in the tournament. She had bagged wins over Panna Udvardy and Dalma Galfi.

Leylah Fernandez beat American Ann Li in straight sets. Li had earned a retirement win over Iga Swiatek in the last round, but was no match for Fernandez who secured victory in straight sets. The match took 17 games to decide and lasted an hour and 24 minutes.

Fernandez hit 6 aces and 2 double faults in the win. She landed 74% of first serves in play and won 76% of first serve points (34/45). Fernandez won 44% of second serve points (7/16) and saved two break points on her serve. This is officially Fernandez’s career-best run at the Madrid Open. She had never passed the third round before this week.

Mirra Andreeva vs Leylah Fernandez Head-To-Head

Andreeva and Fernandez have met twice at WTA level. Their first match was in this tournament back in 2023. Andreeva won in straight sets. Their second match was at the Hong Kong Open. Fernandez avenged that loss in three sets.

Mirra Andreeva vs Leylah Fernandez Prediction

Andreeva almost squandered a huge lead against Bondar in the last 16, but escaped with a win. It was deserved and it was against an in-form player. Bondar had already beaten Svitolina earlier in the tournament. That said, Fernandez has plenty of reasons to feel confident about her form on clay. She made the quarters in Stuttgart, where she almost beat Rybakina, and she’s seen off a couple of tricky opponents this tournament. I’m leaning toward Fernandez here. I think she’s been a lot cleaner from the baseline and far more assured in the tightest moments.

Nur Said's Pick: Fernandez in three sets
