Jannik Sinner faces Casper Ruud in the Rome Masters final on Sunday, May 17. Here’s our Jannik Sinner vs Casper Ruud prediction. This preview will also include a Jannik Sinner vs Casper Ruud pick.

Jannik Sinner vs Casper Ruud Preview

Jannik Sinner earned a hard-fought semifinal win over Daniil Medvedev to reach his second final at the Rome Masters. Sinner was rampant in the opening set, where he broke Medvedev twice to take a 6-2 lead. But the Russian put in a fight in the second set, managing to break Sinner late on and level at 7-5. Sinner appeared to struggle physically at the start of the third set and, despite needing a medical timeout, was cleared to play on. He broke Medvedev in the third game of the third set and the match was suspended due to rain while the score was 4-2 in Sinner’s favor. Upon resumption almost 24 hours later, Sinner secured two more games to close out a three-set victory.

In the victory, Sinner hit 39 winners and 30 unforced errors. That included 7 aces and 2 double faults. Sinner landed 60% of first serves in play and won 75% of first serve points (41/55). Sinner won 59% of second serve points (22/37) and saved five of seven break points in the match. Sinner is undefeated in his last 33 matches at the Masters level and is seeking a sixth successive Masters title, dating back to last year’s Paris Masters. He is the first player to win the first four Masters of the season.

Casper Ruud has a straightforward path to the title match as he demolished Luciano Darderi in straight sets. The match took 14 games to decide. Ruud cruised past the Italian 6-1, 6-1 in 66 minutes to reach his first Rome Masters final.

In the victory, Ruud hit 20 winners and 16 unforced errors. That included 3 aces and 1 double fault. Ruud landed 55% of first serves in play and won 74% of first serve points (17/23). Ruud won 63% of second serve points (12/19) and saved one of two break points in the match. Ruud’s solitary Masters title came at last year’s Madrid Open when he defeated Jack Draper. Ruud improves to 10-2 on clay this season.

Jannik Sinner vs Casper Ruud Head-To-Head

Sinner leads Ruud 4-0 in the head-to-head. They last played at the 2025 Rome Masters where Sinner won 6-0, 6-1.

Jannik Sinner vs Casper Ruud Prediction

Sinner has been dominant and remorseless this season, but did we finally see some cracks? That he’s finally human after all? We saw some vulnerability as Medvedev laid down the blueprint on how to make Sinner uncomfortable from the baseline. He moved him around the baseline and forced him to the net on numerous occasions with some audacious drop shots. Sinner’s energy tank is running low that’s for sure, but I wouldn’t bet against him in another Masters final and in Rome, where he can become the second man to complete the Career Golden Masters.
