Jannik Sinner earned a hard-fought semifinal win over Daniil Medvedev to reach his second final at the Rome Masters. Upon resumption almost 24 hours later, Sinner secured two more games to close out a three-set victory.In the victory, Sinner hit 39 winners and 30 unforced errors. Sinner won 59% of second serve points (22/37) and saved five of seven break points in the match. Sinner is undefeated in his last 33 matches at the Masters level and is seeking a sixth successive Masters title, dating back to last year’s Paris Masters. He is the first player to win the first four Masters of the season.
Casper Ruud has a straightforward path to the title match as he demolished Luciano Darderi in straight sets. The match took 14 games to decide. Ruud cruised past the Italian 6-1, 6-1 in 66 minutes to reach his first Rome Masters final.
In the victory, Ruud hit 20 winners and 16 unforced errors. That included 3 aces and 1 double fault. Ruud landed 55% of first serves in play and won 74% of first serve points (17/23). Ruud won 63% of second serve points (12/19) and saved one of two break points in the match. Ruud’s solitary Masters title came at last year’s Madrid Open when he defeated Jack Draper.
