2022 champion Iga Swiatek will face Chinese qualifier Qinwen Zheng in the fourth round of the 2026 US Open. The match is scheduled for Monday, September 7. Here’s our Iga Swiatek vs Qinwen Zheng prediction. This preview will include an Iga Swiatek vs Qinwen Zheng pick.
Iga Swiatek vs Qinwen Zheng Preview
Iga Swiatek beat Marie Bouzkova in two tight sets to reach the fourth round of the US Open. Swiatek needed two tiebreak sets to see off the Czech, who put in a valiant effort and who, on another day, might have completed the upset. Bouzkova served for the openign set at 6-5 up, and then had three set points in the second set. But as great champions do, Swiatek found another level and survived on both occasions. Before this round, Swiatek beat Wang Xiyu and Nadia Podoroska. The Pole has not lost a set so far in the tournament.
Qinwen Zheng continues to turn heads at this year’s US Open as the Chinese qualifier delivered one of the most stunning upsets of the week. Zheng defeated former finalist Madison Keys in three sets, having trailed 0-5 in the decider. She saved a match point and won five games in a row to complete that amazing comeback. Zheng, who started the tournament playing qualifiers, will seek to reach the quarterfinal in New York for the third time.
Iga Swiatek vs Qinwen Zheng Head-To-Head
Iga Swiatek brings a dominant 7-1 head-to-head over Qinwen Zheng. However, the Chinese star won the meeting that probably mattered the most, at the 2024 Paris Olympics where she beat Swiatek in straight sets en route to winning the Gold Medal.
Iga Swiatek vs Qinwen Zheng Prediction
We could be looking at the story of the US Open. Qinwen Zheng, from qualifying and ranked outside the top 100, is having a superb run in this tournament, and there are some signs of life after her comeback from injury. She’s been physically imposing and mentally stubborn in matches. Those attributes were required in that incredible win over Madison Keys. Zheng has the power to stop Swiatek from simply grinding her down from the baseline. Iga had to work extremely hard against Bouzkova and didn’t particularly look comfortable (trailed in the second set). Zheng is a legitimate upset pick here if she can keep this level up.
