Quentin Halys enters the 2026 Marrakech Open ranked 111th in the ATP rankings. Halys is a former Top 50 who peaked at a career high of No. 46. This will be his first appearance in Marrakech, opting to kick off his clay-court swing in Africa for the first time in his career.

In 2026, Halys has played 27 matches so far. He’s won 16 and lost 11 times, with all those matches taking place on hard courts, which is naturally his predominant surface. He’s reached the last 16 stage in at least four tournaments, and the impressive part is that he’s done so as a qualifier on three occasions. 

Last week, Halys reached the round of 16 at the Miami Open, knocking out Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Kamil Majchrzak in the process. Last year, Halys played just 10 matches on clay after his preparations were disrupted by injury and played his first tournament on the surface in Madrid.

Karim Bennani is a wild card in this tournament. He’s played in qualifying in the past two editions, losing each time in the first round. But after a promising junior career and becoming the youngest Moroccan man to win a pro title in 34 years in an ITF event last season, tournament organizers were left with no choice but to grant him a main draw wild card.

Bennani is one of the up-and-coming young players in Morocco and will certainly generate a wave of attention in the opening round where he is set to face a former Top 50 player. He has played 10 matches on the ITF level this season, winning 7 and losing three times. He is ranked a career high No. 755.
