Daria Snigur will face Lilli Tagger in the Prague Open final on Sunday, July 26th. Both women will be playing in their first Tour level final after enjoying a breakout week. Here’s our Daria Snigur vs Lilli Tagger prediction. This preview will include a Daria Snigur vs Lilli Tagger pick.

Daria Snigur vs Lilli Tagger Preview

Daria Snigur scored a shock win over Tereza Valentova to reach her first WTA Tour level final. Snigur defeated rising Czech star Valentova 7-6, 6-3 in an hour and 52 minutes. Snigur trailed on two occasions in the first set, but managed to break back each time before prevailing in the tiebreak. At the start of the second set, Snigur was broken, but she did not dial down her aggression and kept overpowering Valentova before sealing the comeback and the win in straight sets.

In the victory, Snigur landed 61% of first serves in play and won 60% of first serve points (32/53). Snigur won 47% of second serve points (16/34) and saved 7 out of 10 break points on her serve. Snigur has lost just one set on her way to the final and that came in her opening match against Ella Seidel. Since then, she’s beaten Aksu, Tararudee and now Valentova. This is officially her best season, having notched her 40th win at all levels and will break into the top 50 next week.

Lilli Tagger has announced herself as a future star of women’s tennis after upsetting two-time Grand Slam champion Barbora Krejcikova in the second semifinal. The fall of Krejcikova means there won’t be a home player in the final at the Prague Open. Tagger battled from a set down to beat Krejcikova 6-7, 6-3, 7-6 in nearly three hours in quite easily the match of the tournament.

In the victory, Tagger hit 12 aces and committed 2 double faults. Tagger landed 61% of first serves in play and won 76% of first serve points (47/62). Tagger won 69% of second serve points (27/39) and saved one of three break points on her serve. This will be Tagger’s first Tour level final, having not gone past the quarters before this week.

Daria Snigur vs Lilli Tagger Head-To-Head

Snigur and Tagger have never faced off at any level, so this will be their first meeting.

Daria Snigur vs Lilli Tagger Prediction

What an interesting final we have in store at the Prague Open. Snigur has finally achieved her most significant breakthrough moment at the WTA level, breaking the top 50 and now with the chance to win her first title. But if Tagger’s victory over Krecjikova is anything to go by, then this feels like a 50-50 matchup in my view. Tagger’s serve was a menace all match, and she didn’t give Krejcikova many opportunities to break. Snigur is very aggressive, though, and will try to attack it from the off. The Ukrainian’s no-nonsense approach of taking the ball early and rushing the young Austrian could be the strategy that limits Tagger from finding her spots. I’ll take Snigur to win this.

Nur Said's Pick: Snigur in three sets
