Coco Gauff will face French Open champion Mirra Andreeva in the quarterfinals of the 2026 US Open on Wednesday, September 9. Here’s our Coco Gauff vs Mirra Andreeva prediction. This preview will include a Coco Gauff vs Mirra Andreeva pick.

Coco Gauff vs Mirra Andreeva Preview

Coco Gauff delivered a near-perfect performance as she dispatched fellow American Iva Jovic to reach the quarterfinal of the US Open. The match took 17 games to decide. Gauff powered past Jovic 6-1, 6-4 in an hour and 33 minutes. In the victory, Gauff hit 18 winners and committed 15 unforced errors. Gauff tallied 2 aces and 2 double faults. She landed 62% of first serves in play and won 68% of first serve points (21/31). Gauff won 58% of second serve points (11/19) and was broken twice in the match.

Before this round, Gauff beat Sonmez, Badosa and Bucsa. She has not lost a set in her last nine matches dating back to the Cincinnati Open. Liudmila Samsonova is the last player to take a set from the American, and that was in mid-August. Gauff has now reached the quarterfinals at the US Open for the third time, having won once and lost once at this stage in the past.

Mirra Andreeva came through a topsy-turvy three-set match against Anastasia Potapova. Andreeva lost the opening set 7-5 in 51 minutes, but the young Russian improved significantly in the second, where she broke Potapova at least twice to force a decider. Both players exchanged breaks early on, but Andreeva raised her level and secured two more breaks to ease to victory.

Andreeva hit 23 winners and 48 unforced errors during the match. She tallied 2 aces and 8 double faults. Andreeva landed 61% of first serves in play and won 69% of first serve points (41/59). Andreeva won 38% of second serve points (14/37) and saved three of seven break points in the match. Before this round, Andreeva had beaten Tjen, Lys and Bartunkova. She has dropped just one set in her run to the last eight. This is officially Andreeva’s best run at the US Open.

Coco Gauff vs Mirra Andreeva Head-To-Head

Gauff and Andreeva have met five times at all levels. Gauff owns a 100% winning record against the young Russian, winning all five matches. They have played twice at Grand Slam level, including at the 2023 US Open where Gauff beat Andreeva en route to the title.

Coco Gauff vs Mirra Andreeva Prediction

In five matches, Andreeva has not come remotely close to beating Coco Gauff. It’s probably the Russian’s least favorite matchup, and there are specific reasons for that. Gauff’s two-hander can attack Andreeva’s favorite patterns, and she doesn’t give Andreeva easy pace changes. And Andreeva doesn’t normally have the biggest serve on tour, so she can’t benefit from any short returns. That said, stylistically, Gauff is the kind of opponent who can seamlessly expose Andreeva’s weaknesses. That doesn’t mean Andreeva can’t figure out a game plan to thwart it, but I’d still have Gauff as the clear favorite.
