The 19-year-old landed 54% of first serves and won 82% of first-serve points (56/68) Mensik won 51% of second-serve points (29/57).

Mensik held 18 of 19 service games in the match and saved 11 of 12 break points on his serve. He won 41% of return points and converted six of 11 break points.

This is Mensik’s fifth win of the season (made back-to-back quarterfinals in Brisbane and Auckland).

I’m going with the underdog here. I genuinely think Mensik has got a decent shot of winning this match. He’s made immense progress in the past year competing at Tour level and he’s ready for that next step in his development. Already he’s beaten some top names in his young career and is not fazed about playing against top 10 players as highlighted with his gustsy performance against Djokovic in Shanghai last year.

Ruud looked far from convincing against a clay-courter in his opening match and nearly made a melee of losing it in five sets. If Mensik finds his spots on serve, I can see him bullying the experienced Norwegian. The over 3.5 sets should hit, but value pick is Mensik winning money line.
