Carlos Alcaraz and Jack Draper meet in the fourth round of the 2025 Australian Open on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Here's our Carlos Alcaraz vs Jack Draper prediction. This preview also includes a Carlos Alcaraz vs Jack Draper pick.

Carlos Alcaraz Preview

Carlos Alcaraz needed four sets against Nuno Borges to assure himself a spot in the second week of the 2025 Australian Open. Alcaraz dropped his first set of the tournament in a tie-break but prevailed 6-2, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 in almost three hours.

In the victory, Alcaraz hit 54 winners and 50 unforced errors. That included nine aces and three double faults Alcaraz landed 61% of first serves and won 84% of first-serve points (56/67).

Alcaraz won 57% of second-serve points (24/42) and saved all three break points on his serve. Alcaraz's first speed averaged at 193 km/h and the second serve averaged 155 km/h.

The Spaniard won 39% of return points (54/137) and converted five of 13 break points.

Alcaraz will aim to reach the quarterfinal for the second straight year (lost to Alexander Zverev last season).

Jack Draper Preview

There will be a British flag still flying high in the second week of the Australian Open thanks to Jack Draper's heroics.

The World No. 18 won his third match in a row in five sets to secure an unlikely berth in the last 16.

Draper beat a second Australian opponent to get there. He saw off Aleksandar Vukic 6-4, 2-6, 5-7, 7-6, 7-6 after four hours of riveting tennis.

In the victory, Draper posted 74 winners and 45 unforced errors, including 29 aces and four double faults.

Draper landed 68% of first serves and won 75% of first-serve points (84/112). He won 52% of second-serve points (27/52) and saved eight of 14 break points.

The British lefty won 36% of return points (67/188) and converted four of 18 break points.

This is officially Draper's best achievement at the Australian Open. Can he keep it up?

• Alcaraz and Draper have met three times on the ATP Tour.

• Alcaraz leads Draper 2-1 but lost their last meeting at the 2024 Queen's Club on grass.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Jack Draper Prediction

Ahead of the new season, Draper mentioned that his off-season preparations were derailed by a hip injury and had to pull out from the United Cup in order to have a longer career. Well, he's certainly had a longer Australian Open that's for sure.

But after three energy-sapping matches, Draper faces an uphill task to go further in the tournament. He won't be in excellent shape to compete with Alcaraz who has been brilliant so far. Draper's serve is the only thing that can put some respectability in the result, but I fully expect Alcaraz to win this match in under four sets.
