The Kings are much more well-rested heading into this game, but they are coming off a loss against the Blues. Two games ago against the Chicago Blackhawks, it wasn’t any better, and they ended up losing 5-1. Darcy Kuemper was in goal and he was awful. He only faced 18 shots and gave up four goals. In this game, the Kings are going to need to get the offense out to a faster start. If they continue to put so much pressure on the goaltending, this could be a very long game again. 

Los Angeles ranks 24th in the NHL for average goals per game with a 2.80 average. They’ve been giving up an average of 2.65 goals per game, ranking their defense 6th in the league. They are taking an impressive amount of shots per game, averaging almost 28. This puts them 2nd in shots in the league. Kuemper could get the start here in goal and he sits with an 18-8-7 record overall and he’s giving up 2.36 goals per game. The Kings have lost each of his last three starts. The Kings will face the Golden Knights and Islanders following this one.

The Kings offense has had issues getting the offense going and they aren’t going to get the offense going here, especially if Binnington is in goal. The Blues offense has been a major issue all season, and that will continue to sneak up and be a problem. This is the perfect game for Kuemper to get back on the track. Will that be enough to work? Who knows but it will be enough to get a cover of the spread. Back the under.
