Toronto Maple Leafs vs New York Rangers Prediction 2/28/25 NHL Picks
Maple Leafs at Rangers at 7 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs have secured victories against both the Bruins and the Blackhawks. Currently, the team is averaging 3.19 goals per game and successfully converting 23.1 percent of their power play chances. William Nylander leads the team with 33 shots on goal, while Mitch Marner follows with 55 shots, and Auston Matthews has recorded 171 shots on goal. On the defensive side, the Maple Leafs are conceding an average of 2.84 goals per game and successfully killing off 79.2 percent of their opponents’ power plays. Anthony Stolarz has allowed 43 goals from 577 shots faced, whereas Joseph Woll has surrendered 80 goals from 884 shots.
The New York Rangers triumphed over the Penguins and the Islanders in recent matchups. They are currently averaging 3.03 goals per game and achieving a power play success rate of 21.1 percent. Leading the team in scoring is Artemi Panarin with 23 goals, while Adam Fox has amassed 43 assists, and Vincent Trocheck has taken 148 shots on goal. Defensively, the Rangers are permitting 3.1 goals per game and are effectively killing 82.4 percent of their opponents’ power plays. Igor Shesterkin has faced 1,227 shots, allowing 116 goals, while Jonathan Quick has given up 53 goals on 515 shots.
The Pick:
The Maple Leafs are showcasing some of their most impressive hockey this season, achieving victories in six of their last seven contests. Their offensive prowess is currently at a peak, and if this trend endures, it is likely to present a formidable challenge for the Rangers. I am not inclined to oppose the Maple Leafs in their current form. Given the reasonable price, I will choose to support the Maple Leafs on the road as they aim to continue their winning momentum.
Los Angeles Kings vs Dallas Stars Prediction 2/28/25 NHL Picks
Kings at Stars at 8 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings currently hold a record of 31-17-8 this season, following their recent defeat to Vancouver, which ended in a 3-2 overtime score. After trailing 2-0 at the conclusion of the second period, the Kings managed to equalize in the third period but ultimately succumbed in overtime. In terms of statistics, Los Angeles outshot Vancouver 26 to 17, achieved a face-off win percentage of 50.9%, and failed to convert on four power play opportunities. Goals for the Kings were scored by Foegele and Kempe, while Rittich successfully saved 14 of the 17 shots he faced during the match.
The Dallas Stars have recorded a season tally of 37-19-2, following their latest game in which they were defeated by Columbus with a score of 6-4. The Stars found themselves down 4-1 during the second period but managed to close the gap to one goal on two occasions, ultimately failing to find the equalizer. In terms of statistics, Dallas was outshot 29-22, achieved a face-off win rate of 52.8%, and went scoreless on three power play opportunities. The goals for the Stars came from Benn, Bourque, Hintz, and Robertson, while Oettinger recorded 23 saves from 28 shots faced in the match.
The Pick:
The Kings’ away record stands at 12-14-5 this season, while the Stars have an outstanding home record of 20-7-1. Los Angeles has been formidable on their home ice, but they have struggled in away games. Dallas has won three of their last four matches and is coming off a lengthy road trip. Both teams have shown commendable defensive strength this season; however, Dallas has proven to be the more effective offensive team, which raises concerns about the Kings’ performance outside their home arena. Back the Stars for a win in this encounter.
Minnesota Wild vs Colorado Avalanche Prediction 2/28/25 NHL Picks
Wild at Avalanche at 9 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild are currently on a rollercoaster of performance; they began with a three-game winning streak, followed by two losses, then achieved another three consecutive wins, only to lose their last two matches. The recent defeats were against the Red Wings and Hockey Club, during which the Wild scored a total of only three goals. As it stands, Minnesota is ranked 3rd in the Central Division Standings with 72 points, two points ahead of Colorado and 15 points behind the leading Winnipeg team. This season, the Wild average 2.85 goals per game, placing them 21st in the league, while they allow an average of 2.86 goals per game, which ranks them 12th. The team is led in scoring by Matt Boldy and Kirill Kaprizov, both with 52 points. Marco Rossi has also made a significant contribution with 50 points (21 goals and 29 assists), while Mats Zuccarello has tallied 36 points (12 goals and 34 assists).
At present, the Colorado Avalanche are not performing at their peak level and have shown inconsistency in their gameplay. Nevertheless, they have achieved five victories in their last eight matches, including a decisive 5-1 triumph over the Devils, marking the start of a six-game homestand after a five-game road trip. During that road trip, the Avalanche suffered losses to the Canucks, Predators, and Blues, but managed to secure wins against the Flames and Oilers. Currently, the team holds the fourth position in the Central Division standings with 70 points, and a win in their next game could enable them to overtake the Wild. The Avalanche average 3.20 goals per game, ranking 10th in the league, while they concede an average of 2.98 goals per game, placing them 17th. Nathan MacKinnon is the team’s leading scorer with 90 points (23 goals and 67 assists), followed by Cale Makar with 66 points (22 goals and 44 assists), Artturi Lehkonen with 35 points (24 goals and 11 assists), and Casey Mittelstadt with 33 points (10 goals and 23 assists).
The Pick:
Colorado is currently enjoying a three-game winning streak at home, having allowed only a single goal during this span while netting 12 goals. The Avalanche’s enhanced defensive performance at home suggests they may restrict the Wild to just one goal. Minnesota has been unable to score in two of their last four away matches, and they managed only one goal in their recent 6-1 defeat against Utah. Although I have a preference for the Avalanche, I will opt for the Under in this matchup.
