Cleveland Browns Betting Preview
To put it lightly, the Browns didn’t have the greatest season in 2024. Cleveland failed to reach their 11-6 mark from the previous year—by quite a margin—going just 3-14 overall. That would (obviously) put the Browns in the basement of the AFC North and marked the 32nd straight season without a division title (1989). Moreover, it was a letdown after making the postseason in 2023. Cleveland lost their last six straight games and eight of the final nine.Â
The (comparably mild) good news is that the Browns came out swinging in their first preseason game versus the Carolina Panthers. Cleveland came out of the first quarter with a 7-0 deficit, then outscored the competition 30-3 the rest of the way for a 30-10 victory in the end. The Browns’ Shedeur Sanders had a nice line in his debut, going 14-of-23 for 138 yards and two TDs. Tyler Huntley added 51 yards and a score on 6-of-8 passing, and Ahmani Marshall was the team’s leading rusher with eight carries for 32 yards. Sal Cannella posted three receptions for 32 yards, but the big contributor to the scoreboard was Kaden Davis with his three grabs for 23 yards and two touchdowns.Â
Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview
Over on the Eagles’ side, they had pretty much the opposite trajectory last season. Philly managed a nice 14-3 regular-season run, which gave the team another NFC East title. It was their fourth straight playoff appearance and seventh in the last eight years. Philadelphia beat the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Playoffs 22-10, then won the Divisional Playoff versus the Los Angeles Rams 28-22. Following an NFC Championship blowout win 55-23 over the Commanders, the Eagles took another Super Bowl title with a 40-22 win versus the Kansas City Chiefs to cap a stellar campaign.Â
Philly began their quest for a repeat championship with a preseason matchup versus the Cincinnati Bengals last Thursday. In that one, the Eagles put up points during every quarter on the way to a 34-27 victory. Tanner McKee threw for 252 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 20-of-25 passing, and Will Shipley led the rushing attack with his seven carries for 48 yards. Leading the receivers was Darius Cooper with six grabs for 82 yards and a score, while Johnny Wilson put up three catches for 73 yards.Â

Browns vs Eagles PredictionÂ
I’m going to take a stab on the Browns. Probably not going anywhere near this one, though; preseason games are weird like that. In any case, Cleveland got a (somewhat surprising) nice performance from their offense in the win over Carolina, tallying 308 total yards (183 passing), 20 first downs, a 6-of-15 success rate on third-down tries and no turnovers. The defense looked good as well, giving up 251 yards (211 passing) alongside two turnovers, 13 first downs and a nice 3-of-12 conversion rate on thirds.Â
Philly looked good on offense themselves (432 total yards; 300 passing) in their first outing but didn’t convert thirds well (3-of-15) and posted 10 penalties overall. Another good defensive performance should put Cleveland in range here, but I’m not touching it.Â
