The San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans meet Saturday in NFL preseason week 1 action at Nissan Stadium. Here’s a San Francisco 49ers vs Tennessee Titans Prediction. This article will include a San Francisco 49ers vs Tennessee Titans Pick.
San Francisco 49ers Betting Preview
The San Francisco 49ers have made at least the conference championship in three straight seasons and enter year eight under coach Kyle Shanahan. Brock Purdy is quickly growing into his role as a reliable quarterback, and he has two of the best offensive weapons around him in Deebo Samuel Sr. and Christian McCaffrey. George Kittle is one of the better tight ends as well. The concerns for the 49ers are on the offensive line outside of Trent Williams, and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk could be moved due to contract issues.
Defensively, the 49ers lost Arik Armstead and Chase Young, but that may not matter when they added Leonard Floyd and Maliek Collins. Nick Bosa is in the thick of his prime at 26 years old, and a linebacker trio of Dre Greenlaw, Fred Warner and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles is as good as it gets. The 49ers are once again arguably the most complete team in football and currently have the second-best odds to win the Super Bowl. It’s just a matter of finally getting it done.
Tennessee Titans Betting Preview
The Tennessee Titans missed the playoffs in back to back seasons and now begin the Brian Callahan era. Callahan is a head coach for the first time after spending a few years as the Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator. Derrick Henry is no longer around, and the jury is still out on quarterback Will Levis. The positive news is the Titans added Tony Pollard, Calvin Ridley and DeAndre Hopkins, which significantly give the offense life, but reaching its full potential will come down to how much Levis improves. The Titans offensive line should also be better with Lloyd Cushenberry III and J.C. Latham.
Defensively, the Titans added legit cornerbacks L’Jarius Sneed and Chidobe Awuzie, which will be key playing in a ridiculous quarterback led AFC. A full season of Jeffery Simmons would go a long way, and Harold Landry III has put together back to back double-digit sack seasons. There’s potential with this Titans roster, but it is fair to question if it’s good enough to truly compete in a loaded conference.
San Francisco 49ers vs Tennessee Titans Prediction
This line probably is what it is because the 49ers know what they have and likely aren't going to play key players much this preseason. The Tennessee Titans are still learning on the fly with a new coach and will be playing starters in hopes of figuring out an identity. With that said, 5.5 points in a preseason game is just too rich for me regardless of teams. Also, the 49ers do have experienced quarterbacks on their roster in Joshua Dobbs and Brandon Allen, who could find success against backup defenders. I'm usually not laying more than 3 points in the preseason. Give me the 49ers and the points.
