The Golden State Warriors face a must-win Game 5 against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Semifinals on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 6:30 PM PDT at Target Center in Minneapolis. The Timberwolves lead the series 3–1 and aim to clinch their first playoff series at home in 21 years.

Stephen Curry remains sidelined with a Grade 1 hamstring strain sustained in Game 1. Despite hopes for a return, the Warriors have officially ruled him out for Game 5.  In his absence, Jimmy Butler has stepped up, scoring 33 points in Game 4.  However, the team has struggled offensively, shooting just 29.6% from three-point range in Game 4. Anthony Edwards has been a standout performer, averaging 27.6 points per game in the playoffs.  In Game 4, he led the Timberwolves with 36 points, propelling them to a 117–110 victory.  Minnesota’s defense, anchored by Rudy Gobert, has effectively limited the Warriors’ offensive opportunities.

Anthony Edwards Over 27.5 Points

Edwards is averaging 27.6 points per game, ranking 4th in the NBA. Playing an average of 36.3 minutes per game, Edwards shot 44.7% from the field, 39.5% from three-point range, and 83.7% from the free-throw line. Edwards has taken over in this series, scoring 36 points in game 3 and 33 points in game 4. After a slow start in this series, Edwards has kicked it into another gear. The Warriors are in trouble, and I expect Edwards to put Golden State in their grave in this one.

Buddy Hield Over 13.5 Points

Buddy Hield averaged 11.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists over 22.7 minutes per game. He maintained shooting efficiencies of 41.7% from the field, 37.0% from three-point range, and 82.8% from the free-throw line in the regular season. We’ve seen his numbers increase in the postseason, especially in this series. Hield has scored 13+ points in every game of this series. I’m surprised oddsmakers haven’t bumped up his line; let’s take advantage of it.

Mike Conley Over 3.5 Assists

Conley is averaging 4.5 assists per game, ranking him 47th in the league for that category.  In addition to his assist numbers, Conley contributed 8.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game, showcasing his all-around capabilities. He’s coming off back to back games where he logged 5 assists in each game. Conley hasn’t scored much this series but his veteran presence has shown in other ways.
