The Dallas Mavericks have been in decent form lately as they’ve won five of their last eight games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after blowing past the Jazz in a 138-120 home win on Saturday. Klay Thompson drained six 3-pointers to lead the team with 23 points off the bench, Brandon Williams and Max Christie each scored 22 points while Naji Marshall chipped in with 16 points and six assists. As a team, the Mavericks shot 54 percent from the field and 18 of 41 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates with 42 points in the first quarter to take an early double digit and they just kept building on the lead until the margin ballooned to 23 points.

Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been mired in their worst slump of the season as they’ve lost eight of their last 10 games overall and they will be hoping to put an end to a three-game losing streak after falling short to the Suns in a 106-99 loss on Saturday. Karl-Anthony Towns led the team with 23 points and 11 rebounds, Miles McBride added 23 points with five assists on nine of 18 shooting while OG Anunoby chipped in with 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Knicks shot 40 percent from the field and 14 of 44 from the 3-point line as they held the Suns to just 19 points in the first quarter to take a narrow lead into halftime and they looked to be in control after taking a 10-point lead late in the third quarter before they allowed a 15-0 run to fall behind. Still, the Knicks were in the contest with a chance to go ahead until the Suns went on another 8-0 run to pull ahead for good.

The Mavericks are still missing D’Angelo Russell, Daniel Gafford, Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving and PJ Washington with Cooper Flagg listed as questionable, while the Knicks are keeping an eye on Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart who are both questionable for this contest. The Mavericks have been playing well lately despite missing so many key players to injury, but they could get Flagg back in action which would be handy against the Knicks who are getting desperate for a win now. It’s tempting to go with the Mavericks to make this a contest and maybe even pull off the upset, but despite the Knicks’ recent struggles, this is a game the Knicks just have to win to get their season back on track. With the Mavericks so banged up at the moment, I will side with the Knicks to get a much-needed blowout win at home in this spot.
