Philadelphia 76ers vs New Orleans Pelicans Injury Report

The Pelicans will be without Dejounte Murray, Trey Murphy III, Herbert Jones, and Brandon Boston. Zion Williamson and Yves Missi are questionable after not playing yesterday.

The 76ers will be without Jared McCain, Eric Gordon, Joel Embiid, Paul George, Tyrese Maxey, Andre Drummond, Lonnie Walker IV, Kyle Lowry, Kelly Oubre Jr., and Adem Bona.

Why the New Orleans Pelicans will win

  • The 76ers have lost each of their last seven night games.
  • The Pelicans have won each of their last four home games against the 76ers following a road loss.
  • The 76ers have failed to cover the spread in each of their last eight road games following a road loss.
  • The Pelicans have covered the spread in each of their last four games as home favorites against opponents who are on the second leg of a back-to-back.

Why the Philadelphia 76ers will win

  • The Pelicans have lost eight of their last nine games against Atlantic Division opponents.
  • The 76ers have won 14 of their last 18 games against Southwest Division opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Pelicans have failed to cover the spread in each of their last four games against teams that held a losing record.
  • The 76ers have covered the spread in six of their last eight road games against Southwest Division opponents.

Matchup/League Facts

  • The Pelicans rank 29th in the league for opponent field goal percentage this season (48.5%).
  • The Pelicans rank T29th in the league for opponent three-point field goals made per game this season (14.7).
  • The 76ers rank 30th in the league for Q4 win percentage this season (35.2%).
  • The 76ers rank 30th in the league for rebound percentage this season (46.5%).

Philadelphia 76ers vs New Orleans Pelicans Prediction

I don’t want to back the 76ers as much as the next guy as they’re awful, and injured and their 36.6 percent cover percentage is the worst in the NBA. However, the Pelicans as this big of a favorite on the end of a back-to-back is a bit crazy. The Pelicans have lost eight of their last 10 games and they’re 29-42-1 ATS on the season. This is also just the ninth time since April of last year where the Pelicans are favorites of six or more points. The Pelicans are 2-7 ATS in their last nine games as a favorite of six or more points. Again, backing the 76ers isn’t profitable, but if forced to pick a side, I want the points in a battle between two bad teams that are waiting for the season to end.

Randy’s Pick Philadelphia 76ers +7
