The Tampa Bay Rays and the Toronto Blue Jays will meet on Wednesday night in the final game of a three‑game American League East series at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario.

Tampa Bay Rays Betting Preview

The Tampa Bay Rays enter Wednesday’s contest with a 28–13 overall record (1st in the American League East) and a 14–9 mark on the road. The Rays offense has been solid to this point in the season. Let me be more specific. The Tampa Bay Rays have compiled 186 runs scored (11th in MLB), 51 doubles, 34 home runs and a .258 team batting average which ranks third in Major League Baseball.

The Rays arrive at tomorrow’s game in outstanding form. Tampa Bay has won ten of the team’s last eleven games played this season, including a 4–1 victory over the Boston Red Sox three days ago.

Tampa Bay will turn to right hander Griffin Jax in this contest. In three starts made this season, Jax has compiled a 5.00 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP and 17 strikeouts, while allowing 16 hits and 10 walks in 18 innings pitched.

The Tampa Bay Rays have compiled a quality lineup this season featuring first baseman Yandy Diaz and third baseman Junior Caminero. Yandy Diaz enters this contest with a .293 batting average (18th in MLB), 5 home runs, 23 RBIs and an .808 OPS. Junior Caminero leads the team with 11 home runs (8th in MLB), 21 walks, 19 RBIs and an .825 OPS providing Tampa Bay with a reliable offensive production.

Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview

The Toronto Blue Jays enter Wednesday’s matchup with an 18–24 overall record (4th in the American League East) and a 12-11 mark at home. The Blue Jays have struggled recently, losing three consecutive games, including a 6–1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels last week.

Toronto will start right hander Dylan Cease, who has been a key contributor to the Blue Jays starting pitching rotation. In eight starts made this season, Cease has compiled a 3–1 record, a 2.58 ERA (18th in MLB), a 1.24 WHIP and a whopping 66 strikeouts (3rd in MLB), while allowing 38 hits and 18 walks in 45.1 innings pitched.

Shifting our focus to the Toronto offense, the Blue Jays lineup features third baseman Ernie Clement and first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Ernie Clement leads the Blue Jays with a .295 batting average, 13 doubles, 12 walks, 12 RBIs and a .724 OPS. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has amassed a .292 batting average, 2 home runs, 7 doubles, 19 walks, 16 RBIs and an .817 OPS.

Why the Tampa Bay Rays will win.

• Offensive production. Yandy Diaz and Junior Caminero continue to provide the Tampa Bay Rays lineup with consistent offensive production.

• Recent momentum. The Tampa Bay Rays have won 10 of the team’s last 11 games played this season.

Why the Toronto Blue Jays will win.

• Starting pitching edge. In eight starts made this season, Cease has compiled a 3–1 record, a 2.58 ERA (18th in MLB), a 1.24 WHIP and 66 strikeouts which ranks third in Major League Baseball.

• Home field advantage. The Toronto Blue Jays have compiled a 12-11 record at home.

• Offensive upside. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Ernie Clement provide a strong core to the Blue Jays lineup.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Toronto Blue Jays Prediction

In my opinion, this matchup clearly favors the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto starting pitcher Dylan Cease has pitched exceptionally well this season, compiling a 3-1 record, a 2.58 ERA and 66 strikeouts. Tampa Bay will send Griffin Jax to the mound, who has struggled at times this season, which is a legitimate concern when facing a strong Toronto Blue Jays lineup. With that said, I am backing the Toronto Blue Jays on the moneyline in this game.
