The Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Guardians will meet Friday night in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. Let’s take a look at this matchup from a betting perspective.

Tampa Bay Rays Betting Preview

The Tampa Bay Rays enter Friday evening’s contest with a 98-64 overall record (1st in the American League East) and a 43-38 mark on the road. The Rays offense has been exceptional this season. Upon completion of the 2026 regular season, Tampa Bay amassed 736 runs scored (12th in MLB), 169 home runs and a .258 team batting average which ranks first in Major League Baseball.

Tampa Bay arrives at today’s playoff contest in good form, winning four of the team’s last six postseason games played this season, including a 4-3 victory over the New York Yankees earlier this month.

The Rays will turn to veteran right hander Nick Martinez in this contest. In 31 starts made during the 2026 regular season, Martinez compiled a 15-6 win-loss record, a 3.10 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP (12th in MLB) and 109 strikeouts in 180 innings pitched. Martinez was remarkably effective away from home this season, posting a 2.38 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP in road starts. He also enjoyed success against Cleveland, allowing no earned runs in two starts versus the Guardians this season

The Tampa Bay Rays lineup features Junior Caminero and Chandler Simpson. Junior Caminero has compiled 42 home runs, 101 RBIs and an .885 OPS. Chandler Simpson has amassed a .306 batting average (4th in MLB), 46 stolen bases and a .689 OPS.

Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview

The Cleveland Guardians enter Thursday’s matchup with an 85-77 record (1st in the American League Central) and a 41-40 mark on the road. The Guardians have played quality baseball recently, winning five of the team’s six postseason games played this season.

The Guardians will start left hander Joey Cantillo in this contest. In 30 starts made in 2026, Cantillo compiled an 11-9 record, a 3.62 ERA, a 1.42 WHIP and 171 strikeouts in 159 innings pitched. Cantillo enters this contest in solid form, allowing zero earned runs in three of his last four starts made this season.

Turning our attention to the Cleveland offense, the Guardians lineup features shortstop Brayan Rocchio and outfielder Chase DeLauter. Rocchio has tallied a .253 batting average, 15 home runs, 73 RBIs and a .705 OPS. DeLauter has tallied a .287 batting average (17th in MLB), 14 home runs and an .820 OPS.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction

In my view, this matchup favors the Tampa Bay Rays. Why? Tampa Bay starting pitcher Nick Martinez arrives at this playoff contest in good overall form, compiling a 15-6 win-loss record, a 3.10 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP (12th in MLB) and 109 strikeouts in 180 innings pitched this season. It is also noteworthy that Martinez enjoyed success against Cleveland in the 2026 regular season, allowing no earned runs in two starts versus the Guardians. With that said, I think the Rays are the side to be on in this one. I am backing the Tampa Bay Rays on the moneyline in this game.
