The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Chicago White Sox will meet on Tuesday night in the opening game of a three‑game interleague series at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois.

Pittsburgh Pirates Betting Preview

The Pittsburgh Pirates enter Tuesday’s contest with a 71–73 overall record (4th in the National League Central) and a 33–39 mark on the road. The Pirates offense has struggled to find consistency this season. Pittsburgh has compiled 694 runs scored, 215 doubles (19th in MLB), a .252 team batting average and 165 home runs which ranks 15th in Major League Baseball.

The Pirates arrive at tonight’s game in above average form. Pittsburgh has won three of the team’s last five games played this season, including a 1–0 shutout victory over the Los Angeles Angels earlier this week.

The Pittsburgh Pirates will turn to right hander Bubba Chandler in this game. In 26 starts made this season, Chandler has compiled a 6–9 win-loss record, a 4.30 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP and 121 strikeouts in 136 innings pitched. Chandler will look to rebound from his recent struggles on the mound in this evening’s matchup with the Chicago White Sox.

Turning our attention to the Pittsburgh offense, the Pirates lineup features Bryan Reynolds and Oneil Cruz. Reynolds has amassed a .266 batting average, 16 home runs, 67 RBIs, 26 doubles and an .801 OPS. Cruz has compiled 17 home runs, 58 RBIs, 11 doubles, 27 stolen bases and an .827 OPS.

Chicago White Sox Betting Preview

The Chicago White Sox enter Tuesday’s matchup with a 75–68 overall record (1st in the American League Central) and a 43–28 mark at home. Chicago has played competitive baseball recently, winning two of the team’s last three games, including a 4–1 victory over the Minnesota Twins last week.

The White Sox will start right hander Sean Burke in today’s game. In 24 starts made in 2026, Burke has compiled an 8–6 win loss record, a 3.20 ERA, a 1.14 WHIP (19th in MLB) and 167 strikeouts in 154.2 innings pitched. Burke performed at a high level in his most recent outing, allowing zero earned runs while scattering one hit and four walks in the Chicago White Sox’s 5-1 win over the Houston Astros six days ago.

The Chicago White Sox lineup features Miguel Vargas, who has tallied 30 home runs, 79 RBIs, 30 doubles, and an .849 OPS, and Tristan Peters, who has amassed 12 home runs, 53 RBIs, 24 doubles, and an .822 OPS.

Why the Chicago White Sox will win.

• Offensive balance. Miguel Vargas and Tristan Peters provide a strong foundation to the Chicago White Sox lineup.

• Starting pitching. In 24 starts made in 2026, Sean Burke has compiled an 8–6 win loss record, a 3.20 ERA, a 1.14 WHIP (19th in MLB) and 167 strikeouts in 154.2 innings pitched.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction

In my view, this matchup favors the Chicago White Sox. Why? The White Sox have played exceptional baseball at home, compiling a rather impressive 43-28 win-loss record at home, while the Pittsburgh Pirates have played subpar baseball away from home, amassing a 33-39 record on the road. Additionally, Chicago hurler Sean Burke performed at a high level in his most recent outing, allowing zero earned runs while scattering one hit and four walks in the Chicago White Sox’s 5-1 win over the Houston Astros six days ago. For the reasons just noted, I am backing the Chicago White Sox on the moneyline in this game.
