The Athletics and the Boston Red Sox will meet on Saturday afternoon in the second game of a three‑game American League series at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts.

Athletics Betting Preview

The Athletics enter Saturday’s contest with a 45–71 overall record (5th in the American League West) and a 24–35 mark on the road. The Athletics offense has been inconsistent to this point in the season. Through 116 games played in 2026, the Athletics have compiled 499 runs scored, 176 doubles, 137 home runs and a rather pedestrian .243 team batting average which ranks 17th in Major League Baseball.

The Athletics arrive at tomorrow afternoon’s game in below average form. The Athletics have lost eleven of the team’s last twelve games played this season, including an embarrassing 11–0 shutout loss to the Detroit Tigers last week.

Oakland will turn to left hander Gage Jump in this game. In thirteen starts made this season, Jump has compiled a 4–7 win‑loss record, a 4.59 ERA, a 1.47 WHIP and 73 strikeouts, while allowing 67 hits and 31 walks in 66.2 innings pitched. Gage Jump arrives at this contest in poor form, allowing six or more earned runs in two of his last three starts made in 2026. Jump will look to rebound from his recent subpar performances in tomorrow’s matchup with the Boston Red Sox.

It is also noteworthy that the Athletics bullpen has been abysmal this season, as the team currently ranks 30th in overall bullpen ERA (5.52).

Shifting our focus to the team’s offense, the Athletics lineup features outfielder Tyler Soderstrom. Soderstrom has tallied a .245 batting average, 17 home runs, 25 doubles, 51 walks, 52 RBIs and a .799 OPS.

Boston Red Sox Betting Preview

The Boston Red Sox enter Saturday afternoon’s matchup with a 64–51 overall record (2nd in the American League East) and a 29–29 mark at home. Boston has outstanding baseball recently, winning the team’s last nine games, including a 4–0 victory over the Chicago White Sox earlier this week.

Boston will start left hander Jake Bennett in tomorrow’s game. In twelve starts made this season, Bennett has compiled a 7–4 record, a 2.90 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP and 50 strikeouts, while allowing 59 hits and 13 walks in 71.1 innings pitched.

The Boston Red Sox lineup features outfielder Wilyer Abreu and first baseman Willson Contreras. Wilyer Abreu enters this contest with a .252 batting average, 19 home runs, 22 doubles, 56 RBIs and a .775 OPS. Wilson Contreras has compiled a .287 batting average, 23 home runs (20th in MLB), 18 doubles, 67 RBIs and a .937 OPS which ranks 15th in Major League Baseball.

Why the Athletics will win.

• Offensive upside. Tyler Soderstrom leads the Athletics lineup.

• Starting pitching. In thirteen starts made this season, Gage Jump has compiled a 4–7 win‑loss record, a 4.59 ERA, a 1.47 WHIP and 73 strikeouts in 66.2 innings pitched.

• Motivation factor. The Athletics arrive at this contest on the heels of a nine-game losing streak.

Why the Boston Red Sox will win.

• Starting pitching. In twelve starts made this season, Jake Bennett has compiled a 7–4 record, a 2.90 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP and 50 strikeouts in 71.1 innings pitched.

• Home field edge. Boston has played competitive baseball at Fenway Park this season.

• Current form. The Boston Red Sox have won the team’s last nine games.

Athletics vs. Boston Red Sox Prediction

In my opinion, this matchup favors the Boston Red Sox. Why? The Red Sox arrive at this contest in outstanding current form having won nine consecutive games, while the Athletics are in horrendous form, losing the team’s last nine games played in 2026. Additionally, Athletics hurler Gage Jump arrives at this contest in poor form, allowing six or more earned runs in two of his last three starts made this season. With that said, Boston is the clear side to be on in this one. I am backing the Boston Red Sox on the moneyline in this game.
