The problem is that it’s still a long season ahead, and the Angels are the Angels until further notice. Hendricks isn’t a pitcher I want to back after the season he had last year. Through 130.2 innings, Hendricks had an ERA of nearly six and a 1.45 WHIP, which is the worst of his career. Sure, Hendricks is now no longer with the Cubs, and maybe a change of scenery will help. Unfortunately for him, the Cardinals are familiar with Hendricks, given his time in the NL Central. Liberatore was far more respectable, and he’s got a hot offense backing him up.
