The Cincinnati Reds and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Sunday in MLB action from American Family Field. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Cincinnati Reds vs. Milwaukee Brewers prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Cincinnati Reds will start Nick Lodolo here and Lodolo is 9-4 with a 3.93 ERA and 107 strikeouts this season. The Milwaukee Brewers did not have a starting pitcher announced at the time that this article was posted.
Cincinnati Reds Recap
The Cincinnati Reds come into this one trying to avoid the sweep after taking one on the chin in a 1-0 loss in Saturday’s matchup. The series loss for Cincinnati means that the Reds will be unable to build on their series win over the Miami Marlins from earlier this week.
Reds Trying To Get Back To .500
Elly De La Cruz leads the Reds with 116 hits, 20 home runs and 50 RBIs with 59 stolen bases along with a .264 batting average as well. Spencer Steer has a team-high 68 RBIs with 26 doubles and 18 stolen bases while Will Benson also has 17 doubles with 14 stolen bases but also has 128 strikeouts while De La Cruz has a team-high 155 strikeouts so far this season. Jeimer Candelario also has 23 doubles as well as 18 home runs and 92 hits this season for Cincinnati.
Why the Cincinnati Reds will win
- The Reds have won three of their last four games against NL Central opponents following a loss.
- The Brewers have lost three of their last four day games against National League opponents.
- The Reds have covered the run line in each of their last eight games against the Brewers following a road loss.
- The Brewers have failed to cover the run line in each of their last seven games against the Reds following a home win.
Milwaukee Brewers Recap
The Milwaukee Brewers will try to complete the sweep after taking the first two games of the set thanks to Saturday’s win. The win put the Brewers in a good spot to pick up not just a second straight series win, but a second straight series sweep after dispatching of the Braves to start the week.
Brewers Trying To Pull Away In NL Central
William Contreras leads the Brewers with 127 hits including 30 doubles and 66 RBIs along with 13 home runs and a .357 OBP while Rhys Hoskins has 20 home runs with 59 RBIs and Willy Adames has 27 doubles with 21 home runs and 79 RBIs. Brice Turang leads the Brewers with 33 stolen bases while Adames has a team-high 122 strikeouts as well this season. Christian Yelich also has 11 home runs, 42 RBIs, 3 triples and 21 stolen bases while Jackson Chourio’s added 14 homers and 50 RBIs.
Why the Milwaukee Brewers will win
- The Reds have lost each of their last nine Sunday games.
- The Brewers have won each of their last five games.
- The Reds have failed to cover the run line in each of their last seven Sunday games.
- The Brewers have covered the run line in four of their last five games.
Reds vs. Brewers Prediction
I’m leaning towards the Brewers here. I like Nick Lodolo a lot and I think he has a world of potential that we’re starting to see and you really see it when he’s pitching on the road as he’s had more than his fair share of struggles, pitching at Great American Ballpark, but it’s to be expected when you’re a Reds pitcher pitching in such a hitter-friendly environment. It would be nice to know who the Brewers are throwing out there, but I don’t see the Reds getting swept here. Give me Cincinnati in this one.
