The Braves are fresh off a series versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Atlanta lost the first two games of that set 10-0 and 8-5, then in the Thursday finale the Braves were drilled 16-7 in a big loss. Charlie Morton had a bad start on 2.2 innings and eight earned runs.
As starter for Friday the Braves are going with Grant Holmes. In the first 12 games (two starts) of his career this season, Holmes has a 3.00 ERA without a decision.

Over on the Rockies’ side, they took on the New York Mets in their last series. Colorado split the first pair 6-3 (win) and 5-3 (loss). In the rubber match the Rockies took a big loss themselves, 9-1. Austin Gomber gave up five earned in 3.0 innings during the start.
In the starter slot for the Rockies on Friday will be Tanner Gordon. So far this year over the first four starts of his career Gordon is 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA.

Atlanta Braves vs Colorado Rockies Prediction
I’ll probably go with the Braves. At least some of that is due to a choppy showing by Gordon this year. Granted, Gordon did post just one earned on one hit and one walk in 6.0 innings during a no-decision his last time up. That said, Gordon had 10 earned over 9.0 innings during a pair of losses in his previous two.
As for the Braves, on Thursday they couldn’t get much right on the mound, struggling through 16 runs and 20 hits allowed. Eight runs came in the first three innings; five more came in the fifth. Atlanta certainly needs a bounce-back effort, but the good news is that the offense should show up.
