Chicago Cubs vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction
Game 1 Prediction: Hayden Wesneski has been the better pitcher over Lance Lynn this season, and he's in much better form overall. Lynn is coming off a game where he allowed 9 hits and 10 earned runs in 2.2 innings against the Nationals. Lynn is allowing a .297 batting average and 3 homers in 37 at bats against current Cubs. I like the Cubs to keep this hot streak going by taking game 1 of the doubleheader.
Game 2 Prediction: Kyle Gibson has been up and down this season overall, and he's allowed 7 runs in his last 10 innings. However, Javier Assad hasn't pitched since June 23 after dealing with a forearm issue. Who knows what to expect from Assad, who has allowed 12 runs in his last 19.2 innings. It's also difficult to sweep a doubleheader anyway. So, if the Cubs take game 1, I like the Cardinals to bounce back and take game 2.
