The Wisconsin Badgers and the Iowa Hawkeyes meet Saturday in college football action from Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. Here’s a Wisconsin vs Iowa prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Wisconsin vs Iowa pick. We will examine the recent form and player performances for both teams, as well as the recent betting trends and streaks pertaining to this matchup. As we conclude, we will tie it all together with a summary that produces a sensible pick for a favorable betting outcome in this game.

Wisconsin Badgers Betting Preview

Wisconsin has a couple of blemishes on the card so far this year but otherwise they’re playing well overall. The Badgers started out with a loss to Notre Dame, then beat Western Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Penn State and Michigan State in the next four. After a loss to UCLA and a win over USC the Badgers are currently sitting at 5-2 overall in seven outings.

Last weekend versus USC, the Badgers posted a field goal in the first quarter and a touchdown in the second on the way to a 10-7 halftime edge. Wisconsin added a touchdown in both the third and fourth quarters, powering out a 24-7 win in the end. QB Colton Joseph was 12-of-14 for 58 yards and a touchdown in the winning effort for the Badgers.

Iowa Hawkeyes Betting Preview

Over on the Iowa side, they kicked off the season on a nice run but they’ve been choppy since then. The Hawkeyes took out Northern Illinois, Iowa State, Northern Iowa and Michigan in their first four games before a loss to Ohio State. After another win over Washington the Hawkeyes fell in a road matchup versus Minnesota to drop their record to 5-2 overall this year.

Matched up against Minnesota last weekend the Hawkeyes traded field goals in the first half and went to the break with a 3-3 tie. Iowa managed to score a TD and tie it up in the fourth quarter but a late field goal sent them home with a loss 13-10. QB Hank Brown was 11-of-21 for 136 yards, one TD and two interceptions for the Hawkeyes in the defeat.

Wisconsin vs Iowa Prediction

I’m going to take a stab on Iowa. The Hawkeyes need a good showing here after the road loss to Minnesota though. In that one Iowa committed four turnovers (three picks) with just 16 first downs and 4-of-16 on third-down tries. The defense played well though, holding the Gophers to just 209 total yards, 11 first downs and 2-of-14 on third downs. That gives Iowa a 1-2 record over the last three games and they’ve scored 14 or fewer points in both losses.

As for Wisconsin, they beat up a good USC team in their last outing despite giving up 22 first downs and a decent 7-of-15 showing on third downs. The offense only gained 200 yards (58 passing) on the other side but the team still won by 17 points. Wisconsin has held opponents to 20 or fewer points in six straight games, so scoring will be at a premium here.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Iowa Hawkeyes -3.5
