Old Dominion Monarchs Betting Preview
The Monarchs kicked off their season with a home matchup versus Norfolk State. Old Dominion took that one pretty easily 31-10. Game two was another story: that one turned into a 44-21 road loss versus Virginia Tech. The Monarchs dropped another one on September 19 versus East Carolina, falling 20-17 after scoring all their points in the second quarter.
Last weekend versus James Madison, the Monarchs were in trouble from the very beginning. Old Dominion gave up 30 points in the first half, then got outscored 16-3 the rest of the way for a 46-20 loss in the end. QB Ryan Huff was 20-of-39 for 261 yards, one TD and one pick. TJ Johnson topped the receivers with five catches for 105 yards in the losing effort.
Georgia State Panthers Betting Preview
Over on the Georgia State side, they got off to an easy start in their opener as well. The Panthers rolled right past NC A&T in a 59-10 result at home. Georgia State kept rolling in game two with a 31-17 win over Kennesaw State. The Panthers couldn’t keep pace with Central Florida though, dropping the game 44-30 after giving up double-digit points in three of four quarters.
Matched up against Northern Illinois last weekend, the Panthers came out of the first half with a one-score lead 21-14. Georgia State added a couple of touchdowns in the third quarter and rolled to a 35-14 victory in the end. QB Cameran Brown was 14-of-21 for 148 yards, two scores and one interception. Lanear McCrary had 21 carries for 111 yards and one touchdown.

Old Dominion vs Georgia State Prediction
I’ll stick with Georgia State. The Panthers’ offensive numbers were a bit tepid in their win over NIU but it was still a nice win. Georgia State posted 342 yards total with 17 first downs, two turnovers and 6-of-12 on third downs. The D held the Huskies to just 3-of-13 on third downs and had a couple of fumble recoveries. If Georgia State can clean up a few things they’ll be looking sharp this weekend.
As for Old Dominion, they didn’t help their cause in the loss to James Madison with 13 penalties for 96 yards alongside two turnovers. The offense was negative-14 in rush yards and generated just 14 first downs with 3.6 yards per play. On defense ODU gave up 405 yards with 21 first downs and 5.1 yards per play. Taking on Georgia State isn’t going to get a whole lot easier.
