The Raiders have four games in the can so far this season. Middle Tennessee opened up with a matchup versus Murray State, cruising to the home victory 38-14. Game two versus Marshall was the Raiders’ first loss as they fell 28-26 on the road. Middle Tennessee bounced back well with a 27-20 win over Nevada on September 19, though.

Last weekend versus Jacksonville State, the Raiders were down a field goal by the end of the first half. Middle Tennessee was outscored 13-6 the rest of the way and ended up losing 23-13 as the game came to a close. QB Roman Gagliano was 18-of-28 for 216 yards and two scores. Antonio Martin led the rush in the losing effort with 17 carries for 106 yards.

Over on the Kansas side, they only have three games in the books so far this year. The Jayhawks didn’t have any issues in their opener versus LIU, cruising to a home victory 51-6 in the end. Kansas was stopped in their tracks by Missouri 38-21 in game two however. In that home defeat the Jayhawks had a 14-14 tie at halftime then got outscored 24-7 from there.

Matched up against Arizona State back on September 19, the Jayhawks were only down by a field goal at the break. Kansas gave up an unanswered touchdown in the third quarter and couldn’t make the comeback in a 24-17 loss at Wembley Stadium. QB Isaiah Marshall was 17-of-33 for 235 yards, one TD and one pick. Middle Tennessee vs Kansas Prediction

I’ll lean toward Kansas. The Jayhawks don’t inspire a ton of confidence these days but this is a very manageable matchup. Kansas gave up just 228 total yards, 95 pass yards, 13 first downs and 4-of-17 on third-down tries in their overseas loss to Arizona State. The offense gathered 414 yards and 22 first downs, but also went just 6-of-16 on third downs and had three turnovers that proved to be the difference in the game. The Jayhawks have to get the mistakes under control.

As for Middle Tennessee, they posted 319 yards, 20 first downs and a tepid 4-of-11 on third-down tries during their loss to Jacksonville State. The Raiders gave up 517 yards, 276 rush yards, 7.8 yards per play and 25 first downs defensively, which makes it hard to keep up on the scoreboard. This game will be even harder.
