Wright State Raiders Betting Preview

Wright State has had a few good runs this season, but so far they’ve been unable to keep themselves above .500 in the record books. The Raiders went 7-5 over their first dozen outings, taking wins over Ohio Christian, Miami Ohio, Central State OH, Princeton, Air Force, Detroit, and Marshall. Wright State went 2-5 in the next seven with losses to Youngstown State, Eastern Michigan, Cleveland State, Robert Morris, and Fort Wayne. Since then it’s been a choppy 4-4 run with wins over Northern Kentucky, Detroit, Robert Morris, and IUPUI. The losses otherwise have come versus Milwaukee, Youngstown State, Fort Wayne, and Milwaukee. That gives Wright State a 13-14 overall run through 27 games so far this year. 

In the Milwaukee road rematch on Friday, the Raiders came out of the locker room sporting a one-point deficit. Wright State eventually forced overtime but lost after the extra period 88-80. Brandon Noel led the team with 25 points, seven boards, and two assists. Solomon Callaghan added 16 points with two rebounds and one assist, while Alex Huibregtse chipped in 11 points, five rebounds and seven assists in 41 minutes of work. 

Green Bay Phoenix Betting Preview

Over on the Green Bay side, they managed a couple of wins early in the year but it’s been a long stretch of defeats since then. The Phoenix took out Western Illinois and SIU Edwardsville in their first five outings. They’ve since fallen to Evansville, Ohio State, Campbell, IUPUI, Cleveland State, Milwaukee, UC Santa Barbara, Michigan Tech, Drake, Fort Wayne, Wright State, Northern Kentucky, Milwaukee, Robert Morris, Youngstown State, IUPUI, Cleveland State, Oakland, Detroit, Fort Wayne, and Northern Kentucky in succession. That gives Green Bay an ugly 2-24 record overall this year. 

Matched up against Northern Kentucky in Friday’s game, the Phoenix were down 42-31 by the break. Green Bay hit a 31-29 deficit the rest of the way in a 73-60 loss. Marcus Hall was the team’s lead scorer with 19 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Foster Wonders also hit double-digits with 11 points and four rebounds in 26 minutes of work on the floor.

Wright State vs Green Bay Prediction 

I’ll lean toward Wright State, but there’s not much to get excited about here. The Raiders were competitive on the road versus a pretty good Milwaukee team in their last outing but faded in overtime. Wright State still shot 48.3 percent from the field with 32 rebounds and 14 team assists. That said they also gave up 50 percent shooting from the floor on the other side. The Raiders are scoring well these days though, with 80 or more points in three of their last five. 

Wright State took a 74-51 blowout win at home the last time these teams saw each other back on January 2. The Raiders shot well in that one (48.3 percent) and had a 41-29 rebounding advantage. Wright State held the Phoenix to just 35.2 percent shooting as well. It was a sloppy game overall though (26 total turnovers) and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of mistakes in the rematch. I’m staying away from this one.
