Wagner Seahawks Betting Preview
The Seahawks have had a pretty uneven season so far, and they’ve been fighting off the .500 mark for quite some time. Wagner opened with an 8-5 run, taking out Manor College, Boston U, Springfield, Coppin State, MD Eastern Shore, NJIT, Penn State Fayette, and Penn State Scranton. Next came a spotty 4-5 run with wins over Central Connecticut, St. Francis PA (twice), and Le Moyne among losses to Chicago State, Fairleigh Dickinson, Mercyhurst (twice), and Stonehill. The next three outings were all losses versus Long Island U, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Le Moyne though, giving the Seahawks a 12-13 overall run through the first 25 games.Â
On Thursday versus Stonehill, the Seahawks held on to a one-point lead at halftime. Wagner hit a 33-28 run the rest of the way and powered out the win in the end 63-57. Zae Blake led the way on 17 points with three assists and two rebounds. RJ Greene added 15 points as well.Â
Chicago State Cougars Betting Preview
Over on the Cougars’ side, they’ve had an even worse year so far. Chicago State has only a handful of scattered wins, and it took 16 games to get the first one following a winless start that lasted until January 3 versus Wagner. After that came a 3-5 stretch with wins over Le Moyne, Long Island U, and Mercyhurst among losses to Long Island U, Stonehill, Fairleigh Dickinson, Stonehill again, and Central Connecticut. The next three were losses to St. Francis PA, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Le Moyne, resulting in a rough 4-23 opening run for the Cougars.Â
Matched up against Central Connecticut in the Thursday game, the Cougars were up by 10 points by halftime. Chicago State was outscored 55-39 the rest of the way, however, and ended up with an 81-75 loss by game’s end. Leading the scoring was Dailliss Cox with 20 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double off the bench in 24 minutes of work. Noble Crawford added 16 points with seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Jalen Forrest chipped in 15 points with seven boards as well.Â

Wagner vs Chicago State PredictionÂ
I’ll probably take a stab at Chicago State here. Also probably not touching it, though. In their Thursday matchup, the Cougars played well initially against a good Central Connecticut team but got swallowed up in the second half. Chicago State ended up shooting just 38.8 percent from the field with 14 turnovers in that one but did well on the boards and hit 13-of-14 (92.9 percent) from the line. For what it’s worth, Chicago State has been within six points in each of their last two losses.Â
These teams last saw each other back on January 3 in a 64-52 road win for the Cougars. Chicago State shot a nice 50 percent from the field in that one compared to Wagner’s rough 38 percent. It was a fairly sloppy game overall though, with Chicago State accounting for 13 of the 25 total turnovers. The Cougars did get 22 points off 12 Seahawks miscues, though. There’s not a whole lot to like about this one, but it’ll be competitive if both teams show up.Â
