Colorado State Rams Betting Preview
The Rams have five games in the bag so far this year, and they’ve only recorded one loss in that time. Colorado State opened up with a string of victories. Following their win over Incarnate Word in the opener, the Rams blew past Omaha, Loyola Chicago and Cal Poly in the next three. Colorado State took their first loss versus Denver in game five though, giving the team a 4-1 run over the first five games of the season.
The Rams were in trouble at halftime on Friday in the Denver game, trailing 41-33. Colorado State got better from there on a 48-42 run but ended up falling just short in an 83-81 defeat. Leading the team was Kyle Jorgensen with 29 points and six boards. Carey Booth doubled up on 18 points and 10 rebounds while Brandon Rechsteiner chipped in with 11 points in 34 minutes of work for the Rams during the losing effort.
Virginia Tech Hokies Betting Preview
Over on the Hokies’ side, they’ve managed to get through five games unscathed so far this season in a pretty nice opening run. Virginia Tech beat Charleston Southern in their opener, then eked past Providence in overtime for game two. Game three was another win in blowout fashion versus Saint Joseph’s, then came a victory over Charlotte. In their last matchup versus Bryant, the Hokies were able to keep it going for a 5-0 stretch so far.
In last Wednesday’s matchup with Bryant, Virginia Tech held an eight-point lead by the break. Colorado State vs Virginia Tech Prediction
I’ll stick with Virginia Tech I suppose. The Hokies didn’t have too many issues with a struggling Bryant team in their last outing, despite going an ugly 14-of-24 (58.3 percent) from the line and a tepid 4-of-16 (25 percent) from outside. Otherwise VA Tech notched 51.7 percent from the field and a 37-22 rebounding edge in addition to a 46-30 advantage on points in the paint. It was a good job up front, and Virginia Tech now has 78 or more points in all five games so far this season.
As for Colorado State, they shot well (48.7 percent) and were competitive on both the boards (a 29-20 edge) and in the paint (22-22) in their loss to Denver. The Rams gave up 50.7 percent shooting on the other side though, while the Pioneers committed just three turnovers in a very disciplined game. Colorado State has been scoring great all year though, with 80 or more points in every outing. This matchup has the makings of a high-scoring shootout if both teams are on point.
