UNC Asheville vs Richmond Prediction
I’ll take a stab on UNC Asheville. The Bulldogs are something of an unknown heading into this season, and it’ll take a few games to really get a feel for how they’re going to perform. That said, UNC Asheville has a pretty solid-looking roster on paper, headlined by a couple of key returnees. The backcourt should once again be a focal point for the team, and if they can get that area rolling the Bulldogs will do great things.
As for Richmond, they have a couple of big returning players this season in Argabright and Collin Tanner, who is heading into his senior season following 5.9 PPG last year. The roster has a pretty good ceiling, but the team likely won’t be contending for the top spots in the conference this season.

UNC Asheville Bulldogs Betting Preview
Last season the Bulldogs took a step backward in the record column. Following a 21-11 run in 2024-25, UNC Asheville went just 15-17 in 2025-26 with an 8-8 run in the Big South. That would leave the team in fourth place behind High Point, Winthrop and Radford. In the conference tourney, UNC Asheville beat Longwood before a semifinals loss to High Point.
UNC Asheville will have Mike Morrell back as head coach this season. Morrell is entering his ninth year at the helm, and he’s 131-116 during that time. He’ll be looking to have some better luck with injuries this year and has a few returning names. Myles Mayfield (4.5 PPG) and Daniel Thomas (4.9 RPG) are back in the fold and ready to contribute.
Richmond Spiders Betting Preview
Over on the Richmond side, they didn’t have a great season in 2025-26, but it was a step forward from the year before. The Spiders managed to go 15-17 overall with a 5-13 record in Atlantic 10 games. In the conference standings Richmond was ahead of only La Salle, St. Bonaventure and Loyola Chicago, ultimately losing in the tourney to Loyola Chicago during the first round.
This year the Spiders have Chris Mooney back on the sideline. He’s going into his 22nd year at the helm and boasts a career record of 373-307 in that time. There will be just one starter returning however, so Richmond will be looking quite a bit different on the floor. Sophomore Aiden Argabright is a key returning piece after 10.8 PPG last year.
