The Towson Tigers and the Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds meet Monday in college basketball action from the CFG Bank Arena. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Towson Tigers vs. Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds prediction.
Towson Tigers Recap
The Towson Tigers come into the 2025-26 season hoping to build on a solid 2024-25 season, finishing 22-11 overall including 16-2 in CAA conference play to win the CAA regular season championship. Towson would knock off Drexel in the quarterfinals of the CAA tournament before falling short against Delaware in the semis. The Tigers get back their two leading scorers in Tyler Tejada, who had 16.7 PPG with 3.9 RPG while Dylan Williamson had 14.6 PPG with 2.6 APG. The Tigers also brought in a pair of double-digit scoring transfers in Tyler Schmidt who had 10.1 PPG at Valparaiso and Jack Doumbia who had 11.6 PPG and 5.7 RPG at Wright State. Pat Skerry is one of the legendary coaches in the CAA, and the pieces are there for the Tigers to repeat atop the CAA.
Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds Recap
The Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds come into this game looking to rebound after a frustrating year one under Josh Loeffler, going 12-19 overall including 6-12 in Patriot League play. The Greyhounds would knock off Lehigh in the first round before falling to top-seeded Bucknell in OT in the quarterfinals. Jacob Theodosiou is back after logging 13 PPG and 4 RPG for the Greyhounds last year while Jordan Stiemke had 12.1 PPG with 3.7 RPG for the Greyhounds last year as well. This is still a work in progress for Loeffler, but there’s still reason to believe that the Greyhounds can continue to show progress in 2025-26 and potentially make some noise in a wide open Patriot League this season.
Towson Tigers vs. Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds Prediction
I’m leaning towards Towson here. I just think that Towson’s the better team that brings back slightly more proven production with the returns of Dylan Williamson and Tyler Tejeda, and the transfer additions for the Tigers far outweigh what Loyola-MD did in the offseason. The Greyhounds will be a team I watch and back in the Patriot League this season, especially during conference play if they can continue to show strides under Loeffler, but even at home on opening night, I think Towson’s too much here. Give me the Tigers.
