Citadel Bulldogs Betting Preview

The Citadel had a forgettable season in 2023-24, going just 11-21 with a miserable 3-15 run in SoCon play. The Bulldogs landed just one spot out of the basement (ahead of VMI) with that mark, and would finish the season with a loss to Mercer in the conference tournament.

The Bulldogs only get back one starter from last year’s team as head coach Ed Conroy enters his third season at the helm. Leading scorer AJ Smith is gone, as is third-leading scorer Madison Durr. Only four players stuck around overall.

Boston College Eagles Betting Preview

Over on the Boston College side, they managed to go 20-16 overall last year with a rough 8-12 run in a crowded ACC. The Eagles finished ahead of only four teams in the standings. After a loss to Virginia in the quarterfinals of the conference tourney, Boston College eventually fell to UNLV in the NIT.

The Eagles have head coach Earl Grant back for his fourth season in 2024-25. He’ll lose out on a few key players from last year’s team, including Quinten Post (NBA) and Jaeden Zackery (Clemson transfer). Donald Hand (5.0 PPG) is the highest scorer back on the squad this year.

Citadel vs Boston College Prediction

I’ll stay with Boston College. The Eagles have to start fresh with an inexperienced roster this year, and there are bound to be some growing pains along the way. It’s not an especially deep team, and the front court is a bit undersized. That said, Boston College shouldn’t have too many issues in this opener.

As for the Citadel, they’re coming off some tough luck in an injury-marred season and will have to start mostly from scratch. The only returning starter is sophomore Keynan Davis (5.8 PPG) but the team’s got some solid players like Colby McCallister and Kam Roberts. This year’s probably going to be a struggle for the Bulldogs, though.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Boston College Eagles -16.5
