Texas Longhorns Betting Preview
The Longhorns kicked off the season on a pretty nice run through their first 13 games, but they’ve had some issues in the win column lately. Texas took out Houston Christian, Chicago State, MS Valley State, Syracuse, Saint Joseph’s, Delaware State, NC State, New Mexico State, AR-Pine Bluff, New Orleans, and Northwestern State during an 11-2 start to the year. The Longhorns have since gone 3-5 with wins over Oklahoma, Missouri, and Texas A&M. Otherwise it’s been losses to Texas A&M, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, and Ole Miss in that time, giving Texas a 14-7 overall record through the first 21 outings of the 2024-25 season.Â
In the Ole Miss game on Wednesday, the Longhorns went into the second half with a 38-34 advantage. Texas was outscored 38-31 the rest of the way, however, resulting in a 72-69 loss in the end. Leading the team in the losing effort was Tre Johnson with 22 points, three assists, and two boards. Also in double-figures was Arthur Kaluma with 12 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in 36 minutes. Devon Pryor chipped in six points off the bench as well.Â
LSU Tigers Betting PreviewÂ
Over on the LSU side, they similarly opened their year on a nice run, but it’s been a bad stretch since the beginning of the 2025 calendar year. The Tigers took out Louisiana Monroe, Alabama State, Kansas State, Charleston Southern, UCF, Northwestern State, Florida State, Florida Gulf Coast, Stetson, New Orleans, and MS Valley State in their first 13 games. Since then it’s been a 1-6 stretch, though. The Tigers have fallen to Vanderbilt, Missouri, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Alabama, and Auburn in that time (with a lone win over Arkansas) The result so far has been a 12-8 overall run through 20 games so far for LSU.Â
Matched up against Auburn on Wednesday, the Tigers posted a 41-29 deficit in the first half. LSU got better from there but didn’t get any closer on a 46-45 second half and lost the game 87-74 at home. Cam Carter topped the team in the losing effort with his 24 points, six boards, and two assists. Dji Bailey added 13 points with three rebounds and two steals, while Jordan Sears led the bench contributors with 11 points, three rebounds and two assists in 24 minutes.Â

- LSU has lost the first half in seven of its last eight games against Conference opponents at Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Texas vs LSU PredictionÂ
I’ll stick with Texas. You could probably call this one either way though, as both teams could use a win following tough runs against difficult opponents. The Longhorns didn’t shoot well in their three-point road loss to Ole Miss, posting 39.7 percent from the field with 5-of-22 (22.7 percent) from outside. The 11 turnovers for 13 Rebels points didn’t help either, but the Longhorns at least won the rebounding battle pretty handily 42-33. Texas has been below 70 points in three of their last four games, with fewer than 62 points in two of those. It’d be nice to see them post a solid total here.Â
As for LSU, they’ve given up 68 or more points in three straight games. To be fair, however, the Tigers have taken on some very talented squads (mostly on the road) during this current 1-6 stretch. I like this one to be a tight matchup, with Texas powering one out in the end. Should be a good one to watch.Â
