Tarleton State Texans Betting Preview

The Texans got off to a rough start this year, falling to SMU, Sam Houston, and Florida State in their first trio. Tarleton State would beat Tabor in game four but then fell to Baylor and Michigan in blowouts over the next two games.

On Friday versus Iona, Tarleton State scored just 20 points in the first half on the way to a 62-51 loss. Leading scorer Bubu Benjamin posted 22 points with seven rebounds. Izzy Miles added 10 points with three rebounds as well.

Hofstra Pride Betting Preview

Over on the Hofstra side, they conversely started out very well. The Pride took out Old Westbury, Iona, Seton Hall, and UMass over their first four games. Hofstra would fall to Florida State and Houston in the next two, however.

I’ll probably lean toward Hofstra. The Pride have to shoot better than they did in the Rice game on Friday, though. Hofstra hit just 38.1 percent from the field in that slim win, along with a 5-of-27 rate (18.5 percent) from outside and a spotty 15-of-25 (60 percent) from the line. The 46 rebounds made a huge difference. The Pride have been below 69 points in four of their last five games but they’re only 3-2 in that time.

As for Tarleton State, they had a pretty rough first half in the Iona game on Friday and eventually coughed up 18 turnovers with a tepid 39.5 percent shooting from the field. The Texans have been below 52 points in three straight games now, with 63 or fewer points in all six losses. I don’t see a big total versus Hofstra in store either.
