Southern Jaguars Betting Preview
Southern has a couple of wins in the books this year but overall it’s been a struggle. The Jaguars fell versus Arkansas and Marquette in their first pair of outings, then beat Ecclesia and Champion Christian to climb back to .500 on the season. Southern has since taken two losses though, falling to Washington in double-overtime before another loss to San Jose State. In total that gives the Jags a 2-4 record so far this season.
In the San Jose State matchup last Friday, the Jaguars were down by seven points at the break. Southern didn’t end up getting any closer on a 38-31 run from there and lost 80-66 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Michael Jacobs with 24 points, four rebounds and four assists. Terrance Dixon added 10 points with four rebounds as the only other team player to finish in double-figures during the defeat.
Northwestern State Demons Betting Preview
Over on the Northwestern State side, they’ve had some struggles this season. The Demons opened on a three-game losing streak, falling versus Texas A&M, North Texas and North Alabama in that trio. After a win over Ecclesia, the Demons have since lost two more versus San Francisco and Grand Canyon in consecutive games. Northwestern State now stands at a rough 1-5 overall record this year.
Matched up against Grand Canyon last Friday, the Demons came out of the locker room with a 10-point deficit. Northwestern State was outscored 44-41 the rest of the way and turned in an 85-72 loss in the end. Micah Thomas topped the scorers with 24 points, four assists and three rebounds. Landyn Jumawan added 14 points with three assists and two rebounds while Kordick Turner had 10 points with two boards in the losing effort for the Demons.

Southern vs Northwestern State Prediction
I may take a stab on Southern here. There’s not a whole lot to get excited about with both teams struggling, though. In any case, the Jaguars didn’t shoot very well in their latest loss to San Jose State, notching just 39.3 percent from the field with a 36-25 rebounding deficit and 14 turnovers. The good news for Southern is that they’re scoring well overall with 77 or more points in five of six outings this season so far.
As for Northwestern State, they shot well (48.1 percent) in their latest loss to Grand Canyon but also got blitzed on the boards 39-17 (11-3 offensive). The Demons have 72 or more points in three of the last four games though, so they’re capable of putting up the offense when they get going. We should have a decent total here if both teams are on point.
