Southern Jaguars Betting Preview
The Jaguars have had a couple of rough stretches this year, but they’ve been able to overcome them with a couple of solid runs as well. Southern lost to South Dakota, Iowa, East TexasA&M, and Texas A&M during a 1-4 start, then rattled off wins over Champion Christian, Louisiana Tech, Tulsa, and Lindsey Wilson College. After losses to Ole Miss, Loyola Marymount, USC, and Nebraska in the next four, Southern hit another win streak. Those came versus Texas Southern, Prairie View, Florida A&M, Bethune-Cookman, and Grambling for a 10-8 overall run so far.
In the Grambling game last weekend, the Jaguars held a 31-27 edge at the beginning of the second half. Southern kept it up from there on a 36-33 run and took the victory 67-60 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was DaMariee Jones, who came off the bench to provide 15 points with nine rebounds in 23 minutes of work. Cam Amboree added 13 bench points with two rebounds, two steals, and four assists in 21 minutes of action as well.
Arkansas Pine Bluff Golden Lions
Over on the Arkansas Pine Bluff side, they’ve had plenty of issues so far this year—to say the least. The Golden Lions opened on a 1-8 run that featured losses to Cincinnati, Tulsa, South Florida, Incarnate Word, Texas Tech, Missouri, Pacific, and Kansas State. A 2-2 run came next with wins over Central Arkansas and Ecclesia bookending losses to LA-Monroe and Texas. It’s been a five-game losing streak since then however, as the Lions have fallen to Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Prairie View, Florida A&M, and Bethune-Cookman for a 3-15 overall record.
In their most recent matchup on Monday versus Bethune-Cookman, the Golden Lions came into the locker room with a 27-24 deficit. AR-Pine Bluff didn’t end up getting any closer than that on a 46-40 run and took the loss 73-64. Tops in scoring was Doctor Bradley with 23 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals with a pair of blocks. Klemen Vuga added 12 points with three rebounds in 25 minutes as the only other team player in double-figures.

Southern vs Arkansas Pine Bluff Prediction
I’m staying with Southern. The line’s probably too thick to mess with, though. The Jaguars are looking pretty good during this win streak, and they’re coming off a nice showing versus a struggling Gambling squad. Southern shot 43.6 percent from the field with 33 rebounds in that one but did go just 14-of-22 (63.6 percent) from the line and had 15 turnovers. That makes fewer than 61 points allowed in four of the last five games (all five were wins) for Southern.
As for ARPB, they held Bethune-Cookman to just 37.1 percent shooting in their latest defeat but also went just 2-of-18 (11.1 percent) from outside and had 14 turnovers. AR-Pine Bluff has given up 73 or more points in each of the last five games (all losses), so Southern should have plenty of room to score here.
