Southeastern Louisiana Lions Betting Preview
The Lions made some progress in the win column last year, improving on their 15-17 run from the previous season. Southeastern Louisiana ended up going 18-14 overall with a 12-8 run in the Southland Conference. That would put the Lions behind McNeese, Lamar, Nicholls, Northwestern State and Texas A&M-CC in the standings. Southeastern Louisiana skidded into the postseason on a 1-4 stretch though, losing three straight. In their first game of the Southland Tournament versus Incarnate Word, the Lions lost in overtime 71-67.
This year the Lions got off to a tough start with a difficult Monday matchup versus Ole Miss. Southeastern LA was down 45-29 by the end of the first half and limped to an 88-58 loss in the end after a 43-29 second. Jaiden Lawrence led the team with 15 points and two rebounds over 31 minutes in the defeat, and Makhi Myles added 10 points with two rebounds and a pair of assists in 16 minutes of work in the losing effort.
Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Betting Preview
Over on the Cajuns’ side, they regressed in the win column last season. Louisiana went just 12-21 overall with an 8-10 result in the Sun Belt Conference. The Cajuns finished ahead of only Southern Miss, Coastal Carolina and LA-Monroe with that effort. After winning three straight in February, Louisiana lost to Arkansas State and South Alabama to finish off the regular season. The Cajuns beat LA-Monroe in the opener of the conference tourney ahead of a loss to Old Dominion in the second round.
Louisiana matched up with Ball State in their opener this year. The Cajuns were up 29-28 by the end of the first half, then got outscored 47-35 the rest of the way in a 75-64 defeat. Leading the way in the losing effort was Jamyron Keller with 21 points and four assists in 34 minutes. Jaxon Olvera added 13 points and six boards, while De’Vion Lavergne had 10 points with four rebounds and four assists in 30 minutes of work in the defeat.

Southeastern Louisiana vs Louisiana Prediction
I’ll stick with Louisiana, but I’m probably avoiding this one. The Cajuns didn’t look too bad in the first half of their loss to Ball State this week, but eventually lost steam as the game came to a close. Louisiana allowed 52.2 percent shooting from the field and 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from 3-point range alongside a 32-24 deficit in the paint. The Cajuns were competitive on the boards though, and didn’t shoot horribly from the field. The 19 missed 3-pointers (out of 28 taken) did add up, however.
As for SE Louisiana, they were overmatched versus Ole Miss in their opener. The Lions shot just 34 percent from the field and got outmuscled on the boards 38-22. Southeast LA should match up a lot better here though, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a very competitive game on Friday. In the end however, I like the Cajuns to power out a cover at home in their second appearance of the season.
